Is that important to celebrate Valentines Day, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, ect…? Is that a business game to improve their sales of greeting cards and gift items…? Should we be part of this?

These days give us an excuse to treat those who deserve to be treated special everyday that chance to be treated special.

Who says you have to buy a card. I'm sure there are plenty of things that they would rather have that will last much longer than the few seconds of pleasure a card will give. Just give it a little thought. They deserve at least that.

Valentines day doesn't have to be your parents - it can be a sweetheart or you can just give out Valentines Day cards or chocolate etc. to friends to show you care. If you're working or going to school, you can put a Hershey's kiss (little foil-wrapped chocolates) on everyone's desk. As for the Mothers and Fathers Days, in our church for instance, on Mother's day, every female gets a flower. It doesn't matter if you have children or not. And the same on Father's day too. If you have someone older that you are close to or admire, you can adopt them as your parent. Or you can bring flowers to an old age home. Many seniors are lonely and don't have anyone that makes them feel special. You'll be surprised how good you can feel with Random Acts of Kindness. It's often a better feeling than receiving a gift yourself. You get to see how you made their day with a simple gesture. Try it, I think you'll be amazed at how good you feel. :)

Cards for occasions such as these are grossly overpriced i think. I would rather skip the cards and just give a small personal gift. Valentines day is the only one i like to celebrate.

Not necessary for some one & necessary for some one. Its your personal out look, no body forces you, its not a national celebration day. Its highly your pesonal will and wish. Yes, but I must say that in this busy running life, some thing like these days gives some happiness to people, they enjoy it, so let them enjoy, what is the harm in it, not harming anybody. The recievers & wishers both feel happy, isn't it ? Let them celebrate what they are celebrating.

No need to be part of this. It is a bizzare display of emotions. Infact one doesn't need to send cards to one's parents or dear ones to show love.

Valentine's day can be an exception. For that kind of love one needs some sort of prop or help. e.g. it is difficult to say, 'I love you'. Every one doesn't have the power of expression. But through a card, you can say lot of sweet things.

It all depends on those you love. If they "expect" to be treated special on this day, it would be hard. My wife and I actually make cards for each other, rather than buy them. They mean more to us.

    I disapprove of these days...

They're all Hallmark holidays, made to push up sales and make a profit.

I don't like them! And I hate it when people get pissed off at me for not getting them something!
