What's can I do about this pain in my shoulder?
I occasionally get this burning sensation in my right shoulder - it's been happening for years now. I play violin and piano, so we think it might be related to either "overplaying" or not having the correct posture while playing. In any case, I've tried shoulder exercises and they didn't work, and Tylenol/Ibuprofen doesn't do anything for me. Any ideas as to what exactly this pain is, and what I can do about it?

Sounds like you have tendonitis (also spelled tendinitis) in your shoulder. Tendonitis is very common in musicians due to the repetitive movements they perform while playing their instruments. Over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medications may help, but if not, it may be time to see a doctor - you may even see a rheumatologist. A rheumy can determine what more treatment you may need, such as cortisone injections or physical therapy.
Best wishes... and in the meantime... give your shoulder rest.
