Please support homeschooling by standing by the Long family in California.?

This is a letter I sent to the Gov. of CA. Please do likewise!

Dear Governor Schwarzenegger,

Thank you for the reply to my previous letter concerning the judges' ruling about home-schooling in the State of California.

I realize after reading it that I neglected a very important point.

The Long family!

It is important to me and to all home-school parents across the country that this family's rights should be restored.

The court ruling took away their right to enroll their children in the private school program of which they are affiliated. And it denies them the proper choice in raising their children according to their parental choices.

Please do whatever is possible to make this family whole again by empowering them to be able to train their children and teach them again in their own home.

Thank you very much for your time.

Barbara Besaw, SACHSNews editor

Update 2:

What is being done to help the family in LA? I hate to see them ignored in all of this. So, the school leaders claim that they will not change their policy toward homeschoolers. What does that do for the Long family?

I support your decision for not wanting homeschooling kids to attend some kind of public/private school. There are alot of important answers why children homeschool. Some live in dangerous neighborhoods because they do not have alot of money. And their parents do not want them to be involved in the neighborhood violence. Various websites are talking about the new rule. Sorry about the homeschooling problem, if it becomes illegal then it will affect hundreds of thousands of homeschoolers.

    Hi Barb :)

I will gladly send a letter to the Governor as should other parents too!

Since CA has this ripple affect on the rest of the country than we most certainly should stand up and support the issue and the family that is being treated unfairly. Just because there "might" be abuse in the home, doesn't mean that the child services there in CA isn't able to do their job and handle the situation even with them being out of the public school system!!!!!

evaluate getting the e book "The nicely-Adjusted toddler: The Social reward of Homeschooling" via Rachel Gathercole for apprehensive family individuals to make sure. Socialization relatively should not be a controversy. Which individuals of the family individuals are not helping you? in case you and your companion are in settlement, you do what you have desperate is suitable. family individuals will consistently put in their dissenting perspectives in case you enable them to, yet once you're sparkling which you have have been given made your decision and have concept it out for sure, they could pass away you on my own. in my view, we've been apprehensive approximately family individuals who weren't extremely joyful with the assumption of homeschooling. So, till now all of us started formally homeschooling (while the toddlers have been too youthful for college), all of us started making a family individuals e book that we'd deliver out 3 or 4 situations a twelve months. we'd comprise a lot of coaching on what the toddlers have been getting to understand, issues that they have got been doing with different young toddlers, field journeys we've been taking place, etc. and occasional notes on issues from the information approximately close by faculties or notes approximately articles on the super factors of homeschooling. We considered it our way of instructing the family individuals on what we've been doing, of allaying their fears that the toddlers have been being educationally overlooked, and of coaching them somewhat approximately homeschooling. It worked extremely nicely. additionally, attempt sending family individuals occasional worksheets or papers that the toddlers have achieved. in spite of in case you infrequently do worksheets, doing one each and every now and then will reassure them that the toddlers can do "regularly occurring college artwork" and seeing the point of artwork that they are doing frequently calms any fears that they have got. Or make a videotape of them doing classes and engaging in getting to understand activites and deliver it to family individuals. the toddlers will likely love showing off what they are able to do and it will help delicate issues over.

Do you really want the HS movement to be seen supporting parents who abuse their children? OK, so we don't know they're guilty, but we don't know they're innocent either. Argue the HS issue by all means but I would be very, very careful about automatically jumping to their defence just because they HS. If you personally know them and believe they are innocent then by all means fight for them, but otherwise, well just think how this could play out. 20 years of abuse claims? Not good PR for HS.

Thanks NJRoadie. I appreciate getting another point-of-view, especially one outside of fear.

Does anyone have any news articles in reference to the oldest child's claims of abuse? I support homeschooling (after all, I do homeschool) but I am concerned about the claims of child abuse.

Edit: I found the actual court papers, 20 years of abuse claims
