Is it horrible to take a 2 year old with you to the liquor store to buy a bottle of wine?

My husband and I are debating over this. I don't think there is any harm in taking our 2 year old daughter with me if I was to run in and grab a bottle of wine. I have never done it,but I mentioned it today. My husband is appaled and compared this to taking her to a porn store to buy a movie.

Is he making too big a deal out of this or am I wrong for even considering taking her with me?

Update:

We live in PA and you cannot buy beer, wine or liquor in grocery stores. Only in liquor stores, so it would be a trip to that speficic store...that is what he is upset about.

WHAT?????? Nooo I take mine as well he is three) but I see no harm. It is the same as if you took her grocery shopping and bought beer there... I tell you that is what is wrong with this country, we are so quick to shield our children from everything that when they do get out into the real world they dont even know how to act. Now as long as there is not an exchange of gunfire, I see no difference than going there and taking him to the grocer store and getting beer, and if he wants to be really anal about it do not buy a lottery ticket around the kid either because that teaches her gambling, Oh wait you cant go through checkout because Cosmo or Rolling Stone may have a cover on it that is less than appealing to a 2 year old. MY GOD REALLY....

    TAKE HER

Taking a child to the liquor store is no way the same as taking her to a porn store. My dad used to take me with him at that age and even older, I liked to try and carry the case when I was 9-10.

He's making way too big a deal out of this and you should take her with you if you need to get a bottle of wine and its only the two of you.

What is the difference between that and taking a child to the grocery store and getting wine ( or beer ) there?

Edit to add: We could not buy liquor in a grocery in NY either and my mom took us to the store to get wine. I do not think its a big deal.

I don't think it's a big deal.. It's not like the child is never going to see a bottle of alcohol. And I think there's a big difference between a sex shop and a liquor store!

No. So long as you're not totally wasted in front of your kids, buying wine isn't going to hurt them. She doesn't even know what alcohol is at age 2. Besides, when I was little, most liquor stores had Dum Dum suckers for kids!

I saw the 'graduation' segment, and thought i'd spare you, so I have to say, as long as you can get there safely, then ( hell yeah), but it's a shade dodgy you spelling wine 'whine', I do not know the origins of that spelling. Take care and congratulations

I think your husband is over the top. My mom never thought twice about bringing children with her to buy wine. Half the customers in on Saturday afternoon have their children with them. What are they supposed to do? Leave a 2 year old in the car? Your husband is wrong.

It makes more sense to me to take your daughter into a liquor store than to leave her at home or in the car.

No! Your child has no idea whatsoever of what you're buying! She probably enjoys seeing different shops and new shapes and colours.

Your husband is being very over-protective and insecure!

I don't think theres anything wrong with it.

It is legal and not immoral to have a glass of wine.
