do you have your tubes tied?

Is it me or did having your tubes tied the worst mistake you ever made in your life.I had my TL 5 years ago,and my body has never been the same since then I have periods that last 25 days are more,I don't have hot flashes, but chills,my iron level is low.Dr.says take the pill it will help, well it don't work for me.I've never had this problem before and had never taken the pill until a year ago.I'm told by DR that an irregular Period is nothing to be alarmed about. But it's heavey and I cramp all the time but only on my right side. When I've mentioned it to my dr.he say's Your getting ready to start,it's you ovaries. Please tell me I'm not alone on this, that I'm not crazy.

    Dear Mandy:

Sorry to hear that you are having such a lousy experience. I know many women who have had their tubes tied and have not had any complications. They have had irregular periods but not for 25 days.

I am not a doctor, so I will just tell you what I think. The symptoms that you are describing sound to me like menopause. My mother had similar symptoms. When she went through menopause she did not feel chills or hot flashes. Remember not every woman is the same. For some, menopause can begin in their early 30's.

What I suggest you do is go see a different doctor. It is always a good idea to get a second opinion. In my experience a 2nd opinion turned out to be life changing. At 23 I was told I had breast cancer. For months, I cried and suffered, until one day I decided to go see a different Dr. and was told that there was nothing wrong with me. So I went and got a 3rd opinion and it turned out that the lumps were non cancerous.

So please go see a different Dr. because it does not seem normal to have pain only on your right side. Remember, Doctors are human and make mistakes. So please try to get a 2nd opinion. Some more advice on that. When you go to the 2nd Dr. just tell him your symptoms and problem but don't give him the diagnosis the 1st Dr. gave you. Just act as if you are seeing a Dr. for this issue for the 1st time. This will ensure that he wont just agree with your regular Dr. to get out of doing tests. Don't forget to tell the Dr. if your periods were regular or not, and if you had cramps before your T.L.

I hope everything turns out well for you. Feel free to contact me again if you want or need someone to talk to. I'll keep you in my prayers.

    Good luck,

    Mercy

    p.s. you are not crazy.

Tubal ligation does not cause irregular periods or symptoms like you're describing. It sounds more like menopausal symptoms, which would just be coincidental.

  • Yes thats a serious problem. You shouldn't have any of those symptoms. See your docter immediately!
