Does the cot have the escape roof hatch in it`s design I haven`t noticed it?

Michael Waltrip had it on his car when he won Talladega about 4 or 5 years ago & I haven`t seen it since.

No. The bigger greenhouse (driver area) made its necessity obsolete. I personally think any way that helps a driver bail out of a car faster should be in place. Because there will a time a driver is pinned by a car & a wall on both sides & if his engine is in flames the only suitable way out is the roof hatch.

No they don't, and in fact many of the cars have extra webbing or some kind of extra strong material on the inside roof to prevent the driver's arms from flailing around the outside of the car in the event of a roll over crash. New with the COT.

The escape hatch was a "Let's try it" idea on the old cars. It did not work out.

Too hard to keep latched, to long to unlatch it and get out.

The Car of Today is easier to get in and out of, from what we are told, and does not need it.

Source(s): But I digest..... Just my 2 cents.

No. Wasn't feasible. The Waltrip car used it because he is so tall and had trouble getting in and out of his car already. The COT has more room and is said to be safer when a driver needs to get out fast.

No-- Mike Waltrip had it because of his 6"5 in height!!!!!!

48JJfan is 100 percent right. they have a canvas liner above the driver that is securely fastened and designed to protect the driver in the instance of a roll-over!

no I have not seen that ont he current cars, they should ahve one though, it is foolish to assume that nothing will happen to require and escape from the roof

No but I think they should. It's optional but I don't know of any teams that use it right now. I heard Mikey talking about this topic on one of his shows earlier this year.

No they don't but in my opinion I think they should for cars who get pined... drivers side backwards. ( it happens )
