Are there any car clubs that meet up and help out with repairing cars?
Years and year ago i belonged to a car club (no specific car manufacturer) where we would meet up every two weeks at a community centre that had a work shop ( fourpost car lift and underfloor lift, compressor) .
It was run by a great bloke from where i worked and he had to give it up, and the club folded, and so the workshop did not get used so the council made it into a cafe!
i would love to know is there anywhere in Essex that does this kind of thing? it is some much easier to work on a car without your nose scraping the floor pan as you crawl underneath it and as for some one having the knowledge to help you out if you are stuck on how to do something, i am missing tinkering with cars even if it is not my car to help with others is a learning thing, please help, or if there is a garage owner reading would they contemplate doing this kind of thing , we used to charge a small fee to coverthe public liabilty insurance but thats nothing to working comfortably
erm deliah of course free labour you do it yourself, with some ther runnig the work shop willing to give pointers on what to do, if they get involved they will charge, tell me a mechanic who would love the idea of working on a car without getting his/her hands dirty?

I can't speak for your area, but the problem with motor clubs, and so many other clubs, is the cost of public liability insurance.
Since the advent of 'ambulance chasing' insurance claims, no one (or very few brave souls) want to take the risk.
It's the same situation with village fetes, kids no longer ride on the floats - there are no floats!! It costs too much to get the insurance.
The trouble is, in this litigious society, neighbour will sue neighbour over something as trivial as cutting your lip on a chipped cup!!!

Mine is a private garage where we all share expenses and labor.
I am in charge of doing the landlord's project since he has more dollars than sense.
In return he lets me work on my projects there as well.
This is all done in our spare time and at our own risk.

no and i cant drive and i dont have a car but that sounds so cool. we could have a massive club and people could help each other with everything!! honestly sounds like a good idea but its free labour. why do it free when they could charge?
*yeah, i dont think i deserved a thumbs down. meanie.
start your own on facebook? that way you could narrow it to your neighbourhood.
