What is the patriarchal structure in either Cinderella, Little Mermaid, or Beauty and the Beast?

These aren't the Disney versions.

This is for my Literature midterm and though i know that woman are repressed in these fairy tales for some reason I can't put my thoughts together.

I am a Literature minor, but I took a women's studies class with a class discussion in this very same topic. I think I may be able to help you. In fairy tales all the heroines seem to be repressed and have a need to be rescued. When Sleeping Beauty and Snow White fall into deep slumbers what is needed to wake them up? A kiss from a prince. The Little Mermaid is repressed since she gives up her home under the sea to be with her prince whom she rescues, but he marries another. When she is given a chance to come back to the sea under the condition that she kill him she cannot bear to do it...she dies and becomes Sea foam. Cinderella is in need of a Prince to rescue her from being a scullery maid to a step mother and cruel stepsisters. He can only seem to identify her by a glass slipper not by her face or features. Would he have still fallen in love with her had she attended the ball in rags? It makes me wonder. Beauty and the Beast....well she is held captive by a beast, at first she is frightened by his ugliness. He thinks she will lift his curse and by forcing her to dine with him and spend time with him... she eventually grows to love the Beast and lifts his curse. A lot of these fairy tales are not happy at all, but you have to look within their meanings...the more you read them. This is more of a critical thinking on my part hopefully it will inspire some inspiration. Read the stories again and I hope this will help. Google Fairy Tale repressed heroines or fairy tale oppressed snow white, etc. Good luck.

the real Little Mermaid tale is fairly frightening. I cry every time she throws herself interior the water. She could have merely killed that stupid prince and went decrease back along with her sisters.
