How can the Governor of Ga get away with this, and even twice?

As you may or may not know Sunday alcohol sales are illegal in Georgia except at bars/clubs, etc. First let me say that I could care less whether it's legal or not since I've been buying for Sunday on Saturday for like 20 years now so whether you can or not is not an issue for me.

However, last year a bill was passed that would allow each community to vote on whether or not they would allow it and the Governor said NO WAY and vetoed it. Now it is coming up again and he says he will veto it again. How can he do that? I thought the point of America was to be able to vote and voice our opinions on what we want and don't want. Is he allowed to just decide on what and when we can vote?

He can get away with it because the Georgia legislature couldn't or chose not to override his veto. If enough people in Georgia are upset then they can vote for different legislators.

  • Dude, I totally agree. I was watching the local news and I was like, WTF! He is basically imposing his beliefs on everyone else, when the majority of Georgia citizens (outside of the business owners) want to have the right to buy alcohol on Sunday. I want the right to buy booze on Sunday, I don't care if I have 6 other days and a fridge, I just want the right which I am entitled to. I am glad this is his last term because I can't stand the guy. He didn't even get us enough rain with his prayers. What's up with that, lol? Anyways, Sonny Perdue is a tool!

Source(s): I agree with Brooklyn. Stuff like Genarlow Wilson is unacceptable. They should lock Sonny Perdue up and throw away the friggin' key.

Because the governor of GA is a pawn of the Baptists and Evangelicals. They voted him in,and he opnly does things that will make them happy.

How his view on that 17 year old kid who was locked up for rape, cuz some 15 year old girl gave him oral sex consenually.. on tape... for everyone to see that irt was consensual between 2 school mates. Governor said they should throw away the key. Stuff like this is why I don't ever go to the South.

    Screw that!

campaign for his opponent during the next election. Those bible belt states always have thsoe screwy laws, but it wouldn't be that way if everyone didn't vote for them!
