Thats really funny, my dog does the same thing.... She likes cold water better than room temperature. I try to give her fresh cold water a few times a day. I drop ice cubes in because she likes to eat those as well. Stainless is the best for keeping water cool for some reason. You could also keep a jug of water in the refrigerator for her and just pour from there.

If you live where it is that hot, you really must have AC if you're going to keep her. In the house may be hotter than outside for her. Your vet is right, shaving her is not the answer. Their coat is some insulation from heat as well as cold. Ice should never be given to a dog because it can cause them to bloat, which is terrible and life threatening. You might get some of those ice packs for ice chests. The blue ice ones, you can keep several in your freezer and change them out when they melt. They will stay cold for quite a long time. I use these and have even made covers for them so my dog isn't laying directly on the ice pack, though they will anyway. Wal mart and places like that have them. There are large ones which is what you will probably need. Another thing is a product Wal mart also carries called The Absorber. It is in the auto parts section and is a type of shammy cloth made for drying your car. Wet it down, put it in a plastic baggie and keep it in the fridge. Your dog can lay on them. They are cool but won't last very long in bad heat. Best of luck with her.

  • well like previous answers, a stainless steel bowl would help keep the water colder longer. or what I usually do is I have room temperature water for my dog out, and if she is thirsty and won't drink it since it's warm, I ADD cold water to it so it makes it cold. Try to not give into your dog, if you continue to pamper her (don't worry I pamper my dog too and I'm still trying to stop), she will always want things done THAT specific way. So, if she's super thirsty, she should drink the water although it's room temperature. It would make life easier. Or you can get one of those water dispensers that have a bowl attached to it, and a huge chug of water at the top. It is meant to refill the water bowl when the dog drinks all the water in the bowl. So, if you put cold water in it, it might keep the water cold and pour out in the bowl when your dog finishes. It's very handy, although I don't have one myself. try that and see how it goes. any bowls that are metal could help keep it cold. OR BETTER YET, maybe place a big chunk of ice in a water dispenser and when it thaws, it will pour into the bowl, so your dog can have super cold water. please dont mind my crazy yet kinda stupid ideas.

get a stainless steel dish, that might keep it cold for a while. Or, before you go on a walk, drop some ice cubes in her water, and then you come home, they will be melted and the water will be cold. Or, you could just fill it up with cold water when you come back from a walk

metal bowls or you can keep a bowl on the floor and just get a container like some water bottles and fill them up and put them in the fridge so that when you come back from the walk it's cold and you just have to pour it in the bowl or you can put ice in the bowl with the water to keep it cool and keep the bowl away from heat and out of the sun so it don't get warm.

  • Our dog love cold water too, we just ordered a Petmate Deluxe water fountain and it keeps the water moving, filters, and cools it. It was only $37 at petco.com and our dog loves it. She also seems amazed by the stream of water coming out lol. I would recommend them. And go to to petco online those are the cheapest place we found them. If it helps, our dog is 70lb's and the large seems to be just the right size.

There may be some thermal dog bowls, but just plunk a few ice cubes in the water for a quick fix. Works great.

stainless steel help keep it pretty cool. Another thing you can do is add a few ice cubes in the water everyday. just put like 4 in each day and it will keep the water relitivly cool. Good luck!
