-Any charity that supports Type 1 (Juvenile) Diabetes Research.

    Such as :

    -JDRF

-Dr. Faustman at Massachusetts General Hospital (put Type 1 diabetes research on the cheque)..

Type 1 diabetes is the rarer severe form of diabetes that usually appears in infants and children, and insulin injections are needed for the rest of their life. There is no way to prevent Type 1 diabetes, since it is a genetic autoimmune disease thought to be triggered by a virus. It is truly a horrible life-threatening disease for most who have it. There have been a lot a recent breakthroughs that may lead to a cure with proper funding.

    -The local Humane Society

-A local homeless or women's shelter

-A seniors food bank (poor lonely and hungry seniors make me cry!).

    -Big Brothers/Big Sisters

These are my top 5 charity causes. All great ones, and some that often don't get funded because people never hear about them. Which is a shame. These are still worthy causes, even if they don't have pins, ribbons, or bands for their supporters.

Fabulous question by the way. Probably the best question I have ever seen on this forum. I also made charity and volunteering a part of my wedding, what a fabulous thing to do.

    You rock, girl!

    Wishing you all the best!

American Heart Association. My mother died of heart disease among other things in December of 2007. Now my sister and I wear the red dress pin to promote conversations on heart disease, especially in woman. My mother wanted my fiance and I to get married even if she passed away, so we're keeping the same date for our wedding. She'll be watching :)

If you are actually able to donate to all of these charities, that will be wonderful.

They have a "Gifts of Hope" program where you can spend $25 and up.

    Special Olympics.

And I don't know if it counts as a charity, but I also believe in supporting public television.

That's really, really sweet and generous of you. Thank you!
