Need a paint color for our home?
My husband and I want to paint inside our house. We get a lot of natural light and have vaulted ceilings. We would like to find a nice neutral tan or brownish color for the walls and keep our window seals white. The paint chips look great then we buy a small can and everything we have tried is either too light, too green, or too orange. Any color suggestions?

See if you can find something the color you want in your home, linens, a shirt, a piece of stationery, a bowl, whatever, then take it to the paint store and have them match it. I do this every time I paint, usually matching a color in the upholstery or a rug I want to use in that room.

Come to Lowe's! your painting problem will be solve, Lowes has a software that you can buy; try to all colors for your wall, trim, and even your furniture, bath room, bedroom etc. Lowes associates are very knowledgeable about paint colors. You can also buy that CD so you can take picture of your wall and then put them in your computer and run that cd and upload your photos and start mixing colors. and you can experiment which color you would wish to paint. Also try buying glamour homes magazine to get some ideas. how paint relates to object and decor. Sometimes color matching is really up to you how you would want your house to look like, either Oprah's house, Crowford, or Jlo.

Will you be painting all of the walls the same color or do you want some variation?
Look for inspiration in something that you love.
Look at SW 6387 Compatible Cream. It isnt a beige, cream or a yellow but has a hint of all. I love working with this color as it compliments any style decor hence, given its name Compatible. It appears a bit darker at night creating a warm feel in the room.

Try Classic Taupe #290-E3 (Behr paint. You can find it at Home Depot.) Had the same problem as you at first but this one looks so good in different lighting that I used it in different rooms in my house! I used that along with Country Lane (also by Behr) on ceilings, sorry don't have the number right now. These colors look so good together, I'm soooooooo impressed with the selection. Also I used either brown trim (makes taupe look darker) or white trim (makes taupe look like a lighter chocolate milk color.)

hi you said you get lots of natural light and have vaulted ceilings so if you used dark colours it would make the space seem smaller and more cosy light colours would make it big and cold go for your original choice a nice colour is taupe or cappucino not sure if its the same name as your not in the uk I have this colour in my home its very trendy and in at the moment you'll find in the same shade card as chocolate but at the top of the scale rather than the bottom you could then accessorise with lots of different browns which I have done it will be stunning and very contemporary hope this helps sue

I've got Behr's "Clair de Lune" in my bathroom & hallway. It's a medium tan. It's certainly not green, and I don't think it's too orangey. Check it out:
