1998 Ford Windstar Won't Start?

Our van won't start. It will turn over but it will not crank. We thought there may be a problem with the anti theft system because ever since we replaced the battery in the van the alarm will go off by itself. We have disconnected the battery to reset the computer and also tried using the key to disarm the system. The light indicator for the alarm does go off as it should when the alarm is off. Anyone know what it could be?

If it turns over (cranks ok) but won't start and run, spray starting fluid in the air cleaner air intake. If it starts momentarily, you have a fuel related problem (like fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel regulator) or a security problem. Use a spark tester to check for spark. Make sure the battery cable connectors are clean and tight (use a wire brush as shown in the video below).

It sounds like the fuel pump in the tank has kicked the bucket. This involves testing the fuel pressure to make sure. It will involve dropping the gas tank to replace, Sometimes, the filter is bad and not the pump, but who cares? It cost just as much to change the pump as it does the filter. It's not a cheap job, it's not easy and it can be dangerous, so shop around for a good reputable shop and mechanic. . Not my fault, I told Ford not to put the pump in the tank! .

It sounds like a clogged fuel filter or a bad fuel pump.If your headlights shine bright it's a fuel problem.

check for spark and fuel. If you don't have one or the other look into that part of the system
