Sounds fun, but it's not possible to plan someone else's wedding unless you REALLY know what she/he wants.
So, the first thing to do is talk to him or her...a long talk about how your friend envisions his or her dream wedding.
Start with getting all the basics like the size, formality, ideal location, indoor/outdoor, basic themes or colors.
Find out how picky or laid back your friend is going to be, too. This will tell you how much you need to consult with him or her over every little thing or if you have freedom to choose most of the items.
You can find tons of advice on wedding web sites too!

First, you need to find out what your friends budget is, what kinds of colors she likes and would like for her wedding, the type of wedding she has always wanted and then go to www.theknot.com and www.theweddingchannel.com and do local research for locations for the ceremony and reception. Your best friend should be involved in the decision making process for everything and involved at looking at various vendors, etc.

you don't plan your best friends wedding
she does it! it's her wedding... you are just there to help her out and give her your honest opinion about things, if things get tough you are suppose to help her relax... if your the maid of honor that's what your job is...
