IMPORTANT DECISION OF MY LIFE! University of Iowa? or Indiana University?
Ok, I'm really paranoid on where to attend next fall. I heard a lot of good things about these schools, but i could honestly flip a coin. Which school am I better off choosing? Which is more successful/promising? And which can offer me a da** good time? I heard Indiana was a little racist, so I'm a little edgy there, but I need to know what you think...
I'm also an out of state student from illinois who could get a lil homesick...Which place is the most inviting experience that will leave me with no regrets???
Oh, I'm not going into business if that helps too, I'm more of looking into a field where I can help people, maybe medicine? I dunno!
Thanks in advance!

Personally I'd pick University of Iowa, but I'm biased since I go there.
I can't speak for Indiana, but Iowa is definitely diverse and not racist at all. Plus if you get homesick, about 25% of the student population here is from Illinois, so at least you're not the only one from there.
If you're looking into a field where you can help people, like medicine, we have one of the best medical schools here too.
As far as a good time, we're also one of the top party schools. I don't know where Indiana ranks, but Iowa was #12 in the country last I heard.

Indiana University is a very racist school. Especially their Medical School where their is zero diversity and any that is there is tokenism. I would consider a different school especially if you are a minority. People won't tell you the truth because they benefit from the system and they only care about themselves.

Both are good schools. It sounds like you haven't actually visited either one but you should. Going to the campus, taking a tour, possibly sitting in on a class or just talking to students that you meet on campus will help you decide.
Often you'll feel more drawn to one place and then if all other factors balance out, the decision is easy. Go visit! You'll be glad you did. Good luck.

Your first two years are crucial, and when most folks drop out. So go to the school where you can attend while accumulating the least amount of debt...especially your first two years. Usually that is an in state school.
Remember, if you go out of state, you'll be paying that out of state tuition for the whole four years, and what happens if the folks decide they aren't going to fit the bill anymore? Or if you do drop out without a degree?
