What could you possibly learn by passing a car accident? People driving should already know and drive by the rules of the road. Unfortunately not everyone does, I know this. But my point is this... If you're a safe driver, you don't speed, you never run red lights or stop signs, you never drink and drive and you ALWAYS do your best to be aware of your surroundings... are you going to tell yourself "Wow, I'm going to be a SAFER driver" because you just saw a wreck?! Probably not. You're probably going to say "Wow, that's so sad" and you're going to drive on by.

You can't teach yourself just by passing a wreck how to avoid drunk drivers. You can't teach yourself to stop a deer from running in front of your path. You can't teach yourself to make ice less slippery or a curve in the road less sharp. You can't teach yourself how to avoid a wreck... it's just not going to happen.

I think we can all be REMINDED to drive safely and be aware of our surroundings, but we can't LEARN to better drivers just by witnessing an accident.

The first thing that you need to get is that what you have done so far is wrong. Not only morally, but legally. Leaving the scene of an accident is a felony. Not a huge one, but it is still wrong, and you can get in trouble. (Prob. a fine of some sort). You can get your license suspended, and you insurance company could dump you. The sooner you get the truth out, the better for you and you family. I don't think that Ian's dad is a complete "a**hole;" Heck, If I hadn't just dinged up my dad's suburban on my uncle's plow, I'd probably feel the same way. I think you need to take into consideration the fact that not only did Ian do some damage to the car, (which was really your fault) but Ian tried to lie to his father. His dad might be more worried about his son's integrity then about his car. I hope everything works out for you.

I pull over and see if they need help. If they were already taken care of I just keep praying for them to make it and keep thinking about how worried their loved ones must be and pray for them too. Then I sometimes think of myself in this situation but then just shake off the idea and drive off as usual. What I really think of though is the people in that accident not myself!

    alf salama awalan.

I was hit by a car and survived the accident. I kept suspicious for a while about crossing the street but eventually I had to let it go and I am living my life just as anybody would do.

I had a car accident myself a few years ago because I was writing a sms on my cell phone and didn’t notice the road turning left :D it was pretty bad. But I’m telling you, I still write sms when I’m driving.

Edit: It is wrong & I'm not saying it in pride, just answering the question honestly..

It makes me think hard about my priorities in life. How frail our lifeline is and that it could be over in a blink of an eye. Then i pray that no one was hurt and ask Allah to protect me and my family and just move on.
