Dog issues?

I like dogs, would love to have one of my own, however over time I have grown to not like my BF's dog and this concerns me because we would like to have a future together.

The dog has been raised without ANY standards for behavior until I came in the picture. He is an obnoxious, sometimes very misbehaving, biting, and dominating small dog. His breed is not good for households with small children and his consistent biting of me and other guests cause me concern. It wasnt until I put my foot down that my BF got the trainer over to help with the behavior problems. Since then somethings have become better, yet he still behaves in the ways I have just mentioned.

I dont know how to handle this, I cant sleep at night thinking about how my BF comes as this package and I have to choose to step away or accept this dog that I am growing to not like.

Any words of advice or ideas? This issue is really bothering me.

It sounds as if the dog was never socialized with other people or dogs.

Start to train the dog yourself. If you don't know how, research it online or get a book from the library.

Any dog can be trained. It just takes knowledge and patience.

Hi there.., Oh...well but u said u like dogs...maybe u can try to liket his dog..i know dogs can get very annoying at times..specially when they misbehave and start biting us for now reason. but when u said he bites u..duz that mean he just bites to annoy u..to play?? coz they do that when they like u or love u!! but if the dog is like really biting u..with some anger then u need to be careful.

but other than that he sounds just playful. ur BF must be loving this dog..so then it wil be a bit hard fro him to let go right? So then u need to think of him as well... but in the mean time u can try to get friendly with this doggy. Talk to it nicely...gently...if he is biting u ..be stern but say out his name nice and clear...ask him to stop..say its painful..sometime u have to be stern with dogs. give him some treat...let him eat out of ur hand.

i think u need to realy get attached with the dog first b4 u move in...it wil help then...coz u can suddenly get rid of the dog..the poor thing cant understand and it wil need ur bf so much too..so just take it easy...dnt get upset...im sure the doggy is adorable! All dogs are!! just give him ur love and everythign wil be fine! get the trainer frequently....it wil learn with time..dnt worry!

    ;o)

People who aren't going to invest the proper time and training shouldn't have dogs. I have a negative opinion of small dogs anyway. I can't wait until I have a homestead suitable for a german shepherd.
