Why do people think that the government gives away free money?

Do they not understand or care that the government gets its money from working people?? Come on folks! Educate yourselves!

Update:

I say this because people say that the rebate check Bush is issuing is "free money". Why do they think that?

    Because they didn't earn it.

I could have sworn President Bush was calling them rebates, even if you paid no tax.

why do you think? because giving away "free money" makes for bigger government and puts more money into there one pockets.

I know Robin hood seems like a great character but that doesn't mean that our government should use him for a role model

and they shouldn't use china for a role model either

redistrubuting the wealth like they are is a form of communism and it needs to stop

I agree that the less fortunate should be helped but it is not the governments place to do it

by taking our money and giving it to others they are robbing us of our ability to help our fellow men

some people might argue that if the government didn't help them nobody would but if the government stopped "helping" people, people would start helping themselves. Do we not live in america? Do we not pride ourselves on how anyone can realize their dreams here?

It is not the Governments place to offer a person every chance to be successful, and then make sure they are taken care of just in case they decide they'd like to turn down everything this nation has to offer

LOL.. Well it is free money in the sense that we borrowed it from the Chinese to give away.

Of course, when you figure the interest the tax payers will be paying on it plus the original loan, it's far from free. But should it shock you that this guy thinks it's free? Our dollar has TANKED under his administration. This guy knows nothing about economics and he proves it over and over.

On an editorial note, I'm sure the Chinese were more than happy to make the loan. It's a win/win for them when you figure what actually IS spent (instead of saved or used on personal debt) will propably be done at Walmart for chinese goods.

The government only has your money.

    The trouble is

    1. You never get to benefit from it.

    2. Politicians give away your money by the billions to their cronies.

How does it make sense to spend multi millions on election campaigns in order to get achieve 400,000 dollar paycheck as president every year?

Don't you just know it's about something else!!!!!!!!!

Bush couldn't issue that free money without Congress approving it. That's another myth people don't seem to understand.

If you don't work for something directly, you consider it a gift. I once won $600 on a lottery scratcher--of course, I had previously lost about $700.

Because the democrats tell them so .... They only get the money from rich people and evil corporations ... and the public schools have encouraged this lie.

No, they do not care.. because liberal campaigning depends on the ignorance of the people who vote for them
