Family Law/Legal aid in Scotland, help?
Please on answer here if you know what you are talking about. I already have enough if's but's and maybe's in my head... !!
I have a child from a previous relationship with whom I have had virtually no contact since she was born.
My ex-partners husband now wants to adopt my child. I have met with my ex-partner and her husband and discussed the situation, and in short, I will not be opposing or contesting the adoption process in any way and if fact am prepared to do all I can to assist in the process.
However, today I have received a letter from the Scottish Legal Aid board - informing me that my ex-partners husband is applying for legal aid in order to meet the costs of the adoption process and the legalities concerned etc. With this, I received an information leaflet for "opponents". Therein, it says that if I lose the case I could be liable for all costs concerned. Surely this isnt right, a Im not fighting the case? I am not opposing anything?
