  • Family Law/Legal aid in Scotland, help?

Please on answer here if you know what you are talking about. I already have enough if's but's and maybe's in my head... !!

I have a child from a previous relationship with whom I have had virtually no contact since she was born.

My ex-partners husband now wants to adopt my child. I have met with my ex-partner and her husband and discussed the situation, and in short, I will not be opposing or contesting the adoption process in any way and if fact am prepared to do all I can to assist in the process.

However, today I have received a letter from the Scottish Legal Aid board - informing me that my ex-partners husband is applying for legal aid in order to meet the costs of the adoption process and the legalities concerned etc. With this, I received an information leaflet for "opponents". Therein, it says that if I lose the case I could be liable for all costs concerned. Surely this isnt right, a Im not fighting the case? I am not opposing anything?

  • R6 Advice anyone ?

    HI people.

I currently have a 2001 R6 which I will be selling in a few months time. Thing is, the wheels really need refurbished, which I am going to have done before I sell the bike.

I dont know what would be more attractive to buyers - black wheels or white. Ive seen R6's this age with both colours, I know what I prefer - but im doing this to sell the bike so Im trying to get an idea of what most people like so that the sale attracts as much attention as possible.

    What do you prefer?!!!!!

  • 06 R6 or K6 GSXR 600 ?

Which would you say is best and why. Basically, from what I see, the R6 although more powerful most of the grunt is further up the revs - making it a perfect track tool but a bit tedious on the road. The GSXR is supposed to be better for the road, and have more of an even power distribution.

I am supposed to be buying a new bike in the coming season (have a 2001 R6 just now which I love, but i need to move on...). I have for's and againsts for both bikes. Another point id like to make is that I am not sure about the styling of the gsxr, they are one of the few sports bikes that still dont have a twin headlight set up... not sure if i like it or not??? What do you think.....

Has anyone ridden both of these bikes in similar conditions - if so, Id really like to hear from you!!!

Thanks in advance for your answers.

  • R6 vs GSXR 600?

    Hi all.

Just wondering, and this question I suppose would apply mainly to people who have actually had first hand experience of both machines.

Firstly, which of the two would you say is most reliable, and least likely to break?

Secondly - which is the best machine to ride?

    I await your opinions!

    Cheers :)

  • All you bkers....??

    Hi there fellow bikers :)

Ive got a bit of a dilemma here. Last year I went down the road with my beloved GSXR 600 - which I successfully repaired back to complete original condition myself and sold (even made a profit!). The thing is, I sold the bike due to family and peer pressure, basically my family and friends realised I was lucky to survive the first time and didnt want me smashing it and not being so lucky next time round...

Unfortunately, no matter how hard I try - I just cant shake the craving for the buzz I used to get on a bike and reeeeeally want to buy a new one.

Have any of you ever had your family against you with biking and have you got round it in any way? If so, what did you do? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.....

    Ride safe, cheers.....

We are planning a family holiday to orlando for next year - but due to family constraints we can ONLY go the first two weeks of August. Obviously its pretty rainy and stuff but is it really that bad in florida at that time of year that I should deny my kids a trip to Disneyland? Im in scotland btw so im pretty used to the weather being a bit crap - and ive been to africa as well so freek weather ive seen also! Hail stones the size of your fist... OUCH!!

Would really appreciate your answers - thanks people.

  • Question about paintwork?

This may sound like a bit of a strange question but bear with me...

My question is this.. You've had a bump in your car and dont have time/money to get it done at a bodyshop (who want to charge you £150 for the bumper and £170 for painting) .

You find two websites selling the bumper you need, with a service option to have the bumper painted to match your car - both sites look ok. Thing is, one of the sites is asking £69.99 for painting and the other is charging £100. Do you go with the cheaper one, or would you go with the more expensive one, in the hope that you will get a better paint job - what kind of job would you get for only £69.99?

I would appreciate your HONEST opinions. Thanks :)

Has anyone ever tried mixing different tinned soups, like a soup cocktail??? lol

I have done a few recently and they're magic!! Ive done it with Heinz Big soup (chicken and leek) mixed with baxters lentil... YUM!!! Oxtail mixed with beef broth is good as well. Oh, and if you like tomato, try mixing that with a tin of lentil to make tomato and lentil, sounds crap - tastes sooooooperb!!!!

Have any of you tried any good combos???

  • Travelling UK to USA?

Hi all - hope someone can help. Ive been to america a couple of times but not for about 8 years. Anyway, in that 8 or nine years since ive been, we've had 9/11 amongst other terror threats. My Query is this - I seem to remember it being made very difficult to travel from UK to USA after various stringent saftey measures were put in place as regards any criminal record or minor brushes with the law - with people having difficulty travelling to the states for things as trivial as speeding convictions etc!!! Now Im not a terrorist or anything like that and have a family and would like to take the kids to florida - will I have a problem if ive had a brush with the law, even though it was years ago?

Appreciate any feedback - please only provide info if you are certain... thanks!

  • Original coconut boost?

Does anyone remember these? Anyone I ask always says that the biscuit ones etc ARE the original ones, but I know different!!! The original boost chocolate bar to be released was the one with coconut in it - and it was by far the best one, wish it was still readily available :(
