when copying from IE to Excel or Word my computer is locked up for 4 minutes, what can I do?
When I copy and paste from Internet Explore into EXCEL or WORD, my Excel or word is locked up for four minutes, I can't type or get any work done. If I copy from Internet Explorer into NOTEPAD and then copy the EXACT same data from Notepad into WORD or EXCEL nothing bad happens. That being said, I sometimes forget and am stuck staring at the Hourglass for four minutes. Is there anyways to get EXCEL to give up and let me work!!!
I believe the problem is the IT person has Internet access BLOCKED from EXCEL and WORD and word or EXCEL is trying to access the data I copy and pasted, NOT just the text, but I am not sure.

try this in excel
copy something from the internet that give you problems.
instead of your normal paste
- right click on a cell
- click paste special...
- click Text
see if that causes a lockup.
you might have to talk to your IT guy if it doesnt.
what version of word do you have?

Happens the same to me, you are may trying to copy a hiperlink, and that usually takes a while...I dont really know why, try to copy and paste going to Edit / Paste Especial and select Text, this will only copy the text in deed with no format at all.
