  • Do "contestants" on American Ninja Warrior get TV appearance fees if they are shown on NBC?

No one has ever "won" American Ninjia Warrior but they spend so much money and time training. I was wondering if they receive any compensation short of the "million dollar prize" that is nearly impossible to win.

  • My VPN is having a DNS problem (stalls on Waiting for server). The fix doesn't change my IP address.?

I am in China so I need a VPN to access Facebook, IMDB.com, Twitter, Etc.

However, when using my VPN facebook works perfectly but when I visit webpages with content from multiple sources (such as optimizely), I get stuck on WAITING for xxxx.xxx.com). Sometimes the art will show up and the content will stall for ever. Sometimes the content will appear only when I navigate away from the page... Going back doesn't help.

I fixed this problem (based on suggestions on another forum) by changing the Network setting for the VPN (TCP/IP advanced) and unchecked USE DEFAULT GATEWAY ON REMOTE NETWORK. This solved the waiting for BUT FACEBOOK, HULU, Twitter, doesn't work at all. My DNS is GoogleDNS 8.8.8.8 set on my router. Because my IP address still reads China.

  • What is the total weight of all living thing on Earth?

I know that if you add all the weight of all the bacteria on earth together it is more than the combined weight of all OTHER life on Earth. What I don't know is what is the combined weight of ALL life on earth.

  • Did Betty White really say, "“Why do people say "grow some balls"?"?

“Why do people say "grow some balls"? Balls are weak and sensitive. If you wanna be tough, grow a vagina. Those things can take a pounding”

This is a quote that is going around the Internet that is attributed to Betty White, however I wanted to know what the original source is... Was it a Betty White appearance, a book, or maybe just something someone made up and attributed to the comedian.

    Please provide original source material.

  • when using =LEFT and =MID function in EXCEL I am loosing spaces (BLANKS)?

I am pasting VERY VERY long paragraphs into WORD MERGE files. Word only allows 255 characters so I am using LEFT 255 followed by =MID(J3,256,255) =MID(J3, 511, 255) =MID(J3, 766, 255) Etc...

This works most of the time except when MID 256+255 ends with an actual word. This lean 766 starts with a SPACE or a blank and EXCEL removes them.

I then have to run the entire merge in spell check to find the words that are messed up.

Is there a way to keep starting spaces?

    Thanks

  • how much does the ammo cost for the 7.26 mm minigun?

In the wonderful book Charlie Wilson's War, Congressmen Wilson learns that in war, bullets are more expensive then guns, here is an example.

A man fires around 7,000 rounds a year at 15 cents per round which equals $1,050 per person to fire a cheap $165 AK-47.

My question and I haven't been able to find the answer is how much does the 7.26 mm rounds that the mingun fire cost. This machine fires 2,000 to 4,000 rounds a PER MINUTE!!!

While this gun cost $35,000 if this ammo also cost $0.15 a round 1 minute of shooting would cost $600, that seems like it could add of fast even by US military standards

  • How do I get an IMAP server to act more like a POP client?

I have to admit I hate IMAP. I understand why it is "better" and I agree it is better if I travel from computer and computer and want all my e-mail to look EXACTLY the same, BUT I don't! I have a very small quota on my IMAP account and want a PERMINATE archive on my HOME computer. THEREFOR I want a POP account, I want my e-mails to be downloaded and SAVED on the SERVER where I can delete or not delete to my hearts content.

Now I have to manually CHOOSE which files to "save to archive" REALLY! There has to be a better solution. If someone sends me a 20 meg attachment, I have rules to auto move it to archives, but what if I deleted a small e-mail that was an invite and later decided maybe I wanted that. If my home computer was a POP client it would still be there searchable by GOOGLE desktop, OUTLOOK search, and even Windows Search.

    ANY ADVISE!! Thank you

  • when copying from IE to Excel or Word my computer is locked up for 4 minutes, what can I do?

When I copy and paste from Internet Explore into EXCEL or WORD, my Excel or word is locked up for four minutes, I can't type or get any work done. If I copy from Internet Explorer into NOTEPAD and then copy the EXACT same data from Notepad into WORD or EXCEL nothing bad happens. That being said, I sometimes forget and am stuck staring at the Hourglass for four minutes. Is there anyways to get EXCEL to give up and let me work!!!

I believe the problem is the IT person has Internet access BLOCKED from EXCEL and WORD and word or EXCEL is trying to access the data I copy and pasted, NOT just the text, but I am not sure.

    Thank you in advance.

  • Why does Onstar Turn by Turn Require ABS system installed?

For a car with on-star to have the Turn By Turn GPS they also require you to have ABS (anti-lock braking) installed. This seems like a strange requirement. I know some hardwired GPS units tie into the cars computer so when satellite lock is lost it can keep giving directions based on car speed, but this should required ABS. Anyone know what information a braking system can give a GPS unit that speedometers or engine output can not?

  • I am paying for my yahoo e-mail via my DSL contract, so why do I now have advertisements!?

I am angry, so angry I am about to cancel my DSL contract. Today, Yahoo added Advertisements to my Premium e-mail. It now takes 4 seconds to run ANY command.

If ads are not bad enough, slowing down my computer is a crime worth giving up DSL for Cable Modem in my book.

What can I do to make sure Yahoo.com knows just how pissed I am!

  • I saw a trailer for a film, a Vietnam era movie about the music of the 60's, what was it called?

Yesterday, I saw a movie at the second run theatre, so the trailers are sometimes old. It was a movie that was released in Dec 06 but never played in my town. So the movie might have already been to the theatres and left. The trailer was about the music of the 60's and the changing times, it look wonderful, but I've never heard of the movie or seen the trailer before. Can't remember the name was wan't able to find it using yahoo search. Thanks in advance

  • Why is excel adding decimals to whole numbers using simple subtraction?

When doing very simple subtraction EXCEL is adding decimals to the results. This is making verification impossible.

Here is example: $7,959.1 (yes we are only showing 1 decimal place) MINUS $8,744.9= $785.8 should be the result, but instead we get

785.799999999999999999 can anyone explain this? How do I stop it from happening. My verification requires 785.8, I get errors from 785.7999999 even thought the OUTPUT shows 785.8

  • My Yahoo Tool Bar for Firefox sometimes opens emtpy pages?

Sometimes when I use any thing in my Yahoo Toolbar (only at work) I get empty screens with no URL in the tool bar. As far as I can tell there is no rhyme or reason to this error.

It doesn't matter if I am clicking on Mail or Search, a new blank page maybe appear or the correct page will show up.

Anyone have this problem or no a possible sollution?
