Direct debit card question?

It is entirely possible that the majority of my DD card details have been posted off to a completely incorrect address, stapled to the invoice of my order. How many details from a card are necessary to make a purchase? Just the 'big long number on the front', the expiry, the security number, issue? Is it all of them, some of them, or a random combination depending on where the card is being used.

I'm sure I sound a little neurotic, but up until this point I had Assumed it was All of the details (assumption is the mother of all...) ...now I'd much prefer to Know - if anyone can help I'd be appreciative.

Cheers

if it's to purchase somethink, i know that online you need:

some sites require the registered address

the name of the person on the card

    the card number

    start and end date

    security numbers on the back

but if your scared that someone has your details i would ring the number on your card rite now and get it cancelled and have a new one sent out. and change your address to were you are living if its diffrent!!

Probably, but a very bad idea. The interest on the debit card loan will be much higher than car dealers offer. Your debit card is like 7%, and car dealers are as low as 1%.

Why not cancel your card asap just to be on the safe side. I have had some companies ask for the long number, valid from and til dates and the last 3 digits on the back. I have also had companies just ask for the details from the front of the card.

You mean "debit card". Direct debit is something entirely different.

You usually need the long number, the security number (on the back), and the expiry date to make a purchase.

Usually need all numbers including expiry date, and security number.

Without a doubt, it's a random combination depending on where the card is used.

Full account number, expiration date, and security number.

Name as it appears on the card.

sort code and account number along with name address and postcode is enough to arrange for a direct debit
