Commuting from Alexandria, VA to Reston, VA through 495 and dulles toll road?
I'm starting a new job and I'm currently located in Alexandria right off Telegraph Rd. My intended morning commute goes from 495 west/north up to Dulles Toll Road and then towards Reston. Planning on leaving around 7:20; is that a reasonable amount of time to make it to a 8:30 start time? Thanks.

having lived and driven a truck on that road many times I would give yourself a lot more time and log the progress and time for future planning, better to be a 1/2 hour early than to show up late to a new job... and beware, that corridor tends to get messy at times, if it's raining add 1/2hour and check for accidents and blockages before you head out... I left that area for several reasons, traffic being #1....welcome to madness 101...
wait till you get a good dose of the road rage and idiots in that area...Good Luck

You didn't say how far east you travell and I don't drive the Dulles Toll Road enough but the toll is collected all the way to the end near I-495 Capital Beltway. Your alternative is as travel south on the really wide and fast Route 28, you get off at I-66 and head east. Hope the Above Info Helps!

I live in the area and would start at 7 am,With the beltway traffic you never know how it is going to be.One other way might be to take 495 to rt 66 then 50 west to rt 7100.Might be a little less traffic that way.
