What do you think of this girl name?

We are expecting our 2nd baby girl this August.

My husband is very insistant on naming her Kayla Zylie.

He had this name picked out for our first daughter and I put my foot down and said no.

I currently cannot find a name that I just love so I'm about to give in and let him have this name.

What do you think of it???

Our son's name is Devon Alexander and our daughter is Aliya Gabrielle. So were not up on really traditional names but I just don't know!

Update:

We compromised with our other kids.

He picked our sons first name and I did the middle

And with our daughter I picked the first and he picked the middle.

I'm fine with Kayla, I can work with it but I'm not so big on Zylie...it really has no meaning at all, I can't find it in any baby book or website.

    Kayla is very pretty.

If in the past you have each choosen the first or middle name, why don't you do the same now? Go with Kayla, but than see if he would have a problem with you choosing the middle name?

I'm with you.. I like the name Kayla but not too keen on Zylie. Some options to throw around would be ...

    Kayla Sharee

    Kayla Bree

    Kayla Chamile

    Kayla Celeste

    Kayla Sierra

    Good Luck!

I don't like the name Zylie.

I am a big fan of uncommon names, but I prefer them to actually be "real" names. I don't like when someone chooses a name and then changes one letter just to be different.

However, I think that if you choose to use Zylie, you should pick a more traditional first name, or use Zylie as a first name and choose a more traditional middle name. Kayla is a very trendy name and Zylie is very unusual. I would want to offer my child something "normal" (traditional, easy to pronounce, able to stand the test of time, etc) to be called if she hates the trendy/unusual name we give her.

Well if your fine with Kayla than whats the problem its not like your going to be calling her Zylie. My name is Kayla and my sisters name is Kiera maybe you like that better.

Kayla's okay, but Zylie is terrible. I think your husband made it up. It reminds me of the word xylophone.

kayla is sooo overused right now...its not unique or cute anymore because its so common! get a baby book and start researching...but if you picked the names for your other children then i guess your hubbie should have a good input...just be kind and try to persuade him to a name you love lol :o)

I'm not big on untraditional names, but this one is fairly nice--at least it is easy to pronounce and spell, plus it sounds pretty.

However, I can't imagining naming my child a name that either my husband or I honestly didn't like. If you don't like it, you both should go back to the drawing board. Perhaps keep the middle name, so he's happy, but pick a new first name (or vice versa).

Kayla is a common name...nothing special or nothing bad about it...just a plain name...
