That would actually be a really good deal for the Yanks, for one, last year bonds hit 28 hr in 126 games, while having an injury the whole time! he also had a .480 obp which means almost half the time he got on base. And not to mention the 122 walks he got! And this upcoming year, he is going to be healthy, and the fact that he doesn't have to feild will only help! of course its a good move for the Yankees!

Are you suggesting that this is a bad move because you dont want the Yankees to be associated with steroids?

Or because you just dont like Bonds?

Personally, I think that any AL team who needs 30 HR and 90 RBI's next year is f****** high for NOT signing Bonds. He is still the most dominant hitter in the game. He played 80% of the games last year as a position player. He drew over 100 walks, 28 or so HR's, and reached base 50% of the time. With Rodriguez or Matsui protecting him, he's almost guaranteed to count for 2 or more runs per game. The Yanks have the same team that they did last year, so I dont think that they are going to magically turn the corner this year and start blowing teams away. They should have won the division last year, but made the wild card at almost the last possible minute...I think they could use all the help that they can get.

Getting Reggie in the 70's was an unpopular move too, but look how that turned out. I'm with Kruk on this one.

    EDIT:

In response to the question 2 spots above stating "Why would Bonds want to come back?"

Answer, he's 65 hits away from 3,000 and is still looking to win a championship. As a position player, he's done, but in a DH spot, he's got 4-5 years left.

Why wouldn't the Yankees want the most dangerous DH in the league right now. Yes, with the steroid thing Bonds is a liability but until that is truly settled he is as dangerous a hitter that is still relevant in the game today.

They could play him as a DH. The man is still one of the best hitters in the game and is on base nearly 50% of the time. With the other hitters in that lineup, he'd be scoring a lot of runs. Now, the New York media would have a feeding frenzy with Bonds in town and with his standoffish attitude I think there would almost certainly be some friction and a melt down in front of the cameras on his part at some point.

He is!! But on the other hand considering that the Yankees had a bunch of known cheaters on their team throughout the years, the team and the Bonds would be a match made in Heaven.

Plus it would be great to see anytime beat the most overrated team and player in Baseball today. LOL

Actually they are going to sign Kruk to a one day contract and pay him in meatballs!!! Why would Barry want to come back? Its not worth the mental torture he would receive from the NY fans. He was a great player, just should lay lo now.

Bonds is still a BIG threat. Look at every year and now they are saying even stronger that he is Innocent. I just wish the Giants could use him but he needs to DH. "He even stole a few bases last year."

    GO GIANTS!!!!!

I am sure that wasn't the smartest thing he ever said. That would make about as much sense as the Mets retiring John Rocker's number.

its a good idea if he didnt do steroids and everyone didnt hate him. it would bring in money especially since hes close to a couple records and he still can swing a bat. keep in mind john kruk once said, "im not an athlete, im a baseball player."

    all things considered, bad idea.

ESPN likes to torture all the teams fans with the Miller/Morgan combo...
