Does it always have to come down to race in SA?
http://capetownnews.co.za/2007/09/21/followup-winn...
Following on from Emjay 3's link, i found this story; i dont know whether to laugh or cry.
Can nothing be done in this country without someone playing the race card?
Why is it this way? Cant we just come together and keep the past behind us and try to live a normal everyday life? But noo, we have to continually look over our collective shoulders to ensure everythings PC and hunky dory, just in case someone like this author gets his panties in a twist....
Be sure to read the comments particularly the last 3. Id be intrested to hear the general opinion on this. Thanks all.
PS: hows this for a laugh: out of the 5 suggested categories, i could chose "Words and Wordplay" (???) or "Jokes and Riddles" (????!!) to place this q. wth?
Lulu - Theres no defintive yes/no left/right answer - just read the linked article and give your opinion...
or
What do YOU think of the idea of someone calling "Racists!" at every turn?

Quite interesting reading I'd say. No competition in South Africa should be without 5 winners at least. Then we can have one Black, White, Indian, colored and one white Afrikaner. (The Afrikaner is mos the issue)
I do not know what to say anymore and wish people will get over the race thing. The longer we care about race, the longer it will take to heal the wounds.

1. The Light by Common; or better yet, any song off of 'Like Water for Chocolate' and 'Be' by Common. He is the epitome of hip-hop at it's purest form. 2. Sadistik and Canibus. 3. I usually skip It's Your World on Common's 'Be' album. 4. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, lmfao. 5. Never noticed that, but I don't listen to a lot of Talib. 6. Emancipator 7. I've only heard 'The Balancing Act' and it's one of my favorite albums. 8. Curren$y 9. Favorite Socially Conscious Group: A Tribe Called Quest Don't listen to Political hip-hop.. 10. Raekwon 11. 'Tha Carter IV' (Tech N9ne, Andre 3000, Nas, Busta Rhymes, etc) 12. Anythang (Devin The Dude) 13. Have no clue, I miss the show. 14. The 2Pac one in the club, lol. Or the KKK one. 15. I don't listen to female singing (I know it's weird..) 16. Blu & Exile - Below the Heavens 17. "Hip-Hop is Dead" - Nas 18. Senor Soulstice 19. Pretty important. 20. Kno 21. 'Be' (Common), 'Below the Heavens' (Blu & Exile), 'Midnight Marauders' (A Tribe Called Quest), 'Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)' (Wu-Tang Clan), and 'Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous' (Big L). 22. I always thought Masta Killa was more like an affiliate than an actual Wu member.. 23. 'Below the Heavens' 24. Mixed (black/white) or White 25. I'd be a one-man army with some MP40's 'n Thompson's (COD).

It is sad that the race card always has to be drawn. What this person should be asking is: Do white afrikaans women enter more competitions at the spur than other people? Or Do blacks enter many competitions?
There are many questions that can be asked to query the result of the draw, but this person just asks the RACE question?
Although I felt for this woman when I read her first comment. But, her second posting got a bit much, and I had the feeling that very soon I was going to read: "And if you want to know how to win a trip just by asking god to bless your cell phone, just send me R5 000 and I will disclose my secret"
She waffled on a bit too much about her forced poverty, god and her freedom fight.

You are right Styvies! I also posted a question like this a few avatars ago! These people always contradict themselves and shoot themselves in the foot with their own argument. A racist is someone who classifies everything according to race, who puts race first in the description of a given person and so on. A racist could even be someone who "likes" another race in that sense.
Ayiza also has a point, unfortunately 350 years of SA history have ingrained racism into EVERYONE, black, white and coloured. It will not disappear over night but I agree with you on how destructive it is.

Oh my goodness - people are always going to play the race card and this is just so pitiful - I can't read the rest of it because these people are really sad. You would think that they spend more time enriching their lives.... instead of having sleepless nights about who won a stupid competition
Source(s): Edit : I wonder if this person would have made such a huge thing out of this if it was a weekend away in Pofadder - Anonymous1 decade ago
I have never read anything so ridiculous in my whole life - and that is not an exaggeration...
Do CERTAIN black people in this country truly believe that they are entitled to "better" treatment and opportunities than white people in all aspects of social life (including competitions) - THEY CAN GO STRAIGHT TO HELL!!!
I am also so sick and tired of "previously disadvantaged"
individuals thinking they are entitled to a "free lunch" and that Whites should just sit back and allow this....
Hell we are in worse trouble than I thought - when is enough going to be enough - they will continue pushing and pushing until we either all bugger off or we have full blown civil war...
ADD:
AYIZA: Keep pushing pal...

OH! OH!, soon they are going to draw and judge competitions and probably even the lotto according to the colour of skin in selecting winners. 80% of all competitions and 80% of the lotto must now by law, be won by the previously disadvantaged, sounds like a pretty fair advantage doesnt it?

I think I might be missing something, I do not know how to answer this question? I answered the spur question and then was directed to this question, but I can't see what is the question here?
