Tell them you deserve the scholarship because you are a persistent person, and will fight for what you want.
That you are Unique, completely different than any other student.
And that you can overcome obstacles, like whatever may get in your way to prevent you from getting the scholarship or going to school.
Hope this helps!

What you did to get the scholarship. For example if you do well in sports, say because you are very good in sports. If you have outstanding grades and test scores, say that.

they ask this to get rid of those who are inarticulte, unenthusiastic and unimaginative.
articulate your reasons for wanting it; ie you want opportunitiy, this is what you want to do with your life, you have worked hard for it and will continue to work hard, you like their academy!!
tell them your personal story too so they warm to you as a person. tell the truth and elaborate on it with literary flair.

Just be honest, chances are you need it for financial reasons (they don't look down on that). The main thing their looking for is why are you the best candidate for it.

" I deserve this scholarship, because I have the ability to follow through with all the hard work it will take to achieve my dreams and my goals. I believe in myself and I believe, with this scholarship, it will give me the foundation I need to build a better me, and enable me to become a person who makes a difference in this world. "
