A question about breathing when singing...?

When you sing are you supposed to push your stomach out as you exhale, or are you supposed to push your stomach out as you inhale?

Don't breathe at all! That's the # 1 rule that people always forget to follow when singing.

Good question, because sometimes the key to a good song is getting the breathing down right. You always want as much air in you as possible, so I think you understand that concept. Don't move your shoulders when your breath either. See how long you can last in one breath by trying out different ways that people tell you on here. Because everyone is going to give you a different answer, because everyone was taught a certain way

    Good luck

Like someone else said, push from the diaphram. You can also try breathing exercises. Try breathing in for a count of eight then breathe out for a count of eight, its helps to contorl and regulate breathing and its not as easy as it sound. Do this frequently.
