How is dying on the cross a fair trade for an eternity being tortured in hell?
Seriously...Xians make a big deal about the "sacrifice" Jesus made for our "sins". But all he did was suffer for a few hours, then went back to sitting at the right hand of God, according to Xian mythology.
Wouldn't it have been more of a sacrifice if he had volunteered to go to Hell on our behalf? Now that's a god I could believe in.
Hey I'm not saying crucifixion was a picnic...horrible way to die obviously. I would dispute it is the MOST horrible way to die...the Spanish Inquisition probably came up with a thousand more awful ways to put people painfully to death.
Bottom line...he knew he was only going to have to endure it for a finite period of time...and then back to gold pavement and fawning sychophants for eternity. Hell, I'd do that.

His death has nothing to do with you or me, I didn't ask to be born here to give appreciation for someone who is said to have died for my sins some 2,000 years ago, a sin that was forced into me even when I haven't existed yet at that time and now I was told that I'll punished and send to hell for being ungrateful, nothing is more evil than unjust punishment such as eternal torture.

That is a great question. I honestly think that I would just keep living the same way. I am not a spiteful person, so I don't see myself being the "If I am going to hell anyway, I might as well kill people" kind of girl. And, we all gotta die somehow and some time... so, I don't see myself trying to make myself live longer, either. I'd probably just be more wild and outgoing. Don't want to waste life if I am gonna spend the afterlife being burned with cigarettes and stuff :p. ((MM))

The answer is: Jesus Christ was God. The life of God which was poured out through the shedding of the blood of Jesus Christ was infinitely more valuable than all the human blood that ever did or ever will exist, simply because this was the Creator stepping into time and space to make intercession for His own rebellious children.
Every living thing in heaven or earth that exists came into being through Him. If you could grasp this fact, then you could understand.
When He died on the cross, He bore the entire weight of the guilt and sin of all humanity for all time. This He could do because He was and is an eternal Spirit Being - with no beginning and no end. This is not true of any created being, for they all have a beginning and only exist in God, who alone possesses eternal life.
I suppose the best way for you to understand is this:
How many worms is your life worth?
a billion worms? 10 billion worms?
Well all the worms in the world are not equivalent in value to a single human life.
Neither are all the humans that ever lived equivalent to the life of the Son of God.
Nevertheless He died for us, because that is just the way He is.

Well it is a bad way to go, but that is beside the point. I know what Christians say he died for our sins, but what the heck does that mean? There is still suffering, injustice, disease and the all the same ills of mankind as before his coming. Christians say all these ill's of humanity are because of sin, the original sin. If this where true we should all live in Eden. So it seems to me his death was meaningless in terms of humanity.
edit: Someone said it was his choice to die for us? Not exactly he was executed, I don't see how he had a choice.

Hi, ...Doc:
You are correct in noting the contrast, a few hours of torment vs. eternity in Hell.
But Hell is an invention of Greek Mythology, and was baptized into the early Christian church; I can't understand how a single person could believe that conjecture.
How God can love and still torment eternally--Hitler would be a better leader as he killed his enemies. Hell fire is much hotter, "The day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch" (Malachi 4:1).
God knew His name would be slandered. That is why He hid a Bible code, the only part of the Bible that is "closed until the end of the days."
It reveals God's plan to save us, and restore the world to its Edenic perfection. See www.abiblecode.com

Jesus was beaten, spit on,slapped, whipped, and mocked before he was crucified and he refused anything to dull the pain myrrh or gall as it's called was offered to people being crucified. Crucifixion is death by drowning the lungs fill up with fluid, most crucified ppl had their legs broken to help them die quicker. They would nail their feet and hands so they would be able to push up for a short time to breathe bf being forced to put their weight completely on their legs.
Jesus hung on the cross for 6 hours separated from God because he became sin.God is perfect and cannot look upon sin. Jesus didn't have one broken bone and he died quicker than others bc Jesus's whole purpose of becoming man was to pay for all of our sins, and when he had paid he cried out It is Finished and he died. He fulfilled the prophecies and offered his blood for the atonement of all sin to those who belief and willingly accept him and his sacrifice.
I hope before you mock Jesus and his sacrifice that you will remember what he went through and he did it for all of us.

"For the things of God are foolishness to those who are perishing.
"You fail to notice, it was for three days and three nights. Also it was a choice He made and He did not have to do it. His death paid in full the sins of all those who turn away from their sins and receive Him as Lord. When we do this, God gives us the Holy Ghost, God Himself.
This is not a myth because Jesus was and is real and He rose from the dead. I and millions of others testify that He is alive and our changed lives bare witness of His resurrection and His power.

What He did is take the full wrath of God for our sins, God turned His back on the Son in place of us. You see, God is both perfectly just and perfectly loving, so a price must be paid and He didn't want us to pay it for eternity so the Son took that wrath. He gave His life for you when He did not deserve it by leading a sinless life. Trust in Him.
God Bless.

He died on the cross so that all of those sins of the human race would be forgiven

Being crucified is no laughing matter.
The penalties now are a joke compared to Crucifixion
