Nope,....my parents have done nothing. Ever. Even when I was in real trouble, they still said no.

My Grandad gave my Dad 5 houses on his 21st birthday....nice eh.

He sold them all over the years to support his business, which he has sold and now lives very comfortably off in Southern France in a beautiful Gite...

    But I'm glad.

I don't feel any responsiblity for helping my parents in later life.

I will make sure that I help my kids as much as I can when the time comes...I couldn't sit back and watch my children struggle if I have time and/or money to help.

No. My parents couldn't afford to give me things so I've managed my adult life by myself. By far the better way I think. It would be nice to get presents and financial gifts when starting out in life to smooth the way, but at some point everyone has to grow up and learn the value of money and the shock of suddenly being very hard up in later life would be dreadful. When you are young it's easier to bounce back.

The gave me my first car...granted it was not much but it was wheels to get me around. Then they paid for college. This help a lot as I see many people struggling to pay school loans on top of car and house payments.

My parents gave me the house I live in, fully equipped.

A car, a Bank account and they paid the tuition fees of my daughter (6 years in high school) because they insisted she should go to the best private high school and I could not afford it at that period.

Above all, they gave me their unconditional love, they were always supportive, caring and discrete.

    Bless them.

When I was younger they did. I used to spend the rent money on booze and drugs!

I haven't asked them for money in over 20 years. They give me money sometimes for my birthday or a holiday.

They have, and my mom is helping me right now by letting me live with her until I can get my feet back on the ground...it's been a big help, both of my parents have been over the years.

My dad helped me buy a new truck years ago. He also set me up for my career. He met a Carpenter union representative. Who gave me a chance. Today I'm a licensed contractor. My dad has always been my hero.

My dad gave me a piece of land to build a house on and has supported me and my sisters through higher education. He's great.

No. My parents weren't very well-off, but helped me in small ways (buying the kids new clothes sometimes, etc.) when my sons were young.

I help MY sons (in their 20s) even though they earn more than I do!

When we left college my parents gave each of us some money to get us started. There are 9 of us.

It was enough to get an apartment...buy furniture...put some in savings....and invest some.
