I know Jr is going to win this year , but what if he did not?

If Jr doesn`t win a race & Wins the Championship would NASCAR change the Chase to where drivers need to Win a race to win the Cup?

Go Jr #88

That was the whole meaning behind the chase in the first place. Remember the #17 car won the Cup with out winning a race.

It would be unlikely that a driver could win the Cup with out winning a few races. The variables in the numbers are so outrageously slim for a driver to win the Cup with out a win. It would be imposable.

I doubt that Dale Jr. will ever win a Cup. He has won over 3 races in year once. Today, a cup winner must win at least 4-5 races in a year. He simply does not have what it takes to win a Cup with it's present format IMO.

P.S. If you report me I will appeal. I will win because I have answered the question with out malice. Get over it.

Source(s): 67 for the #88 If the #88 wins, I'll start over at 1 Ha!!!!!!!

Troy B, I don't think you should be reported since all you said was your opinion & it is the truth. If Jr doesn't win a championship at HMS, well maybe he should win a race first, then worry about a championship later, what will excuses be then about Jr. He may win a race or 2 this year but still isn't the driver all say he is or he wouldn't have a 68 race drought without a win or how many it is now.

No. Points are based on positions and not wins. Matt Kenseth won the championship in 2003 and only won one race. He actually ran away with it because he was always in the Top 10. Junior should win some races this year, but there are a lot of good drivers and with the Chase, someone could get hot like Kurt Busch did in 2004 and "steal" the championship.

No, the rules would not change in that respect. Yes, wins are exciting, but it would be totally unfair to block the most consistent driver from a Cup just because they didn't win a race. The Chase was instituted to try to keep drivers from doing such a thing, but it is still possible.

Keeping an average finishing position around the 7-10 area should put him very near the top if not the top by the end of the season. Not winning races means he needs less dnf's then other drivers, but consistency is rewarded just as much as the rollercoaster of wins and dnf's.

No Nascar would not change anything.. He's gonna win, he might not win the championship this yr..But I say he's gonna win some races.... What I want to know is what is Troy B going to do when Dale Jr wins a race..(and no I did not report you)

    Go Dale Jr & Hms

i imagine he has a large shot at prevailing at Talladega, the subsequent race at Daytona, or probably Richmond. As you stated, he hasn't had a foul season or everywhere close to a foul season. people in simple terms assume too a lot out of him because of that epic very last call. many of the drivers on the circuit are wishing they'd the season that he has going going for him for them. he will finally pull out of this dry spell, that is only a remember of time. he will make the chase this 365 days no questions requested for my area. you do not ought to win races to make it into the chase.

I really don't think they will change the rules for Jr. and I highly doubt if he is going to win the championship...there are too many drivers out there that are much better than he is.

No. Why would they? They didn't change it when Kenseth won the Cup Championship without winning a race, what would make them do it now? It just proves consistency pays off.

    go Jr.>>>>

JR will not win the championship so everything will stay the same.

I wouldnt put anything past nascar. They would drive backwards around the track if nascar thought they could sell two more tickets.
