Predicting supervolcanoes and eruptions?

Yellowstone might be overdue for an eruption. We know that expansion of the underlying chamber occurs regularly and this has been happing recently. But that expansion has happened before with no eruption. Is there any way of predicting an eruption with better certainty?

Well, scientists haven't been really successfully accurate on predicting anything natural on a regular basis besides weather. The eruption of yellowstone is overdue, but an eruption that big would probably be triggered by a series of small earthquakes. Mt. St. Helens erupted after a long time of rumbling.

But if your worried about Yellowstone, you should give it a visit before it blows up.

It only works if the townspeople listen to the scientists. they had the data, but when Dante's Peak blew, there was mass panic, and people were hurt.

    this was a bad answer.
