Under the table I don't know, but I worked in food service part-time for three years as a second job, we were supposed to report ALL of our tips but did not, nobody did, we reported only the required amount. Unlike others here though I have never claimed to walk on water. I speed sometimes as well..

There are more than everyone would like to believe. Running a construction business I have guys get mad when I ask them to fill out tax papers. They would rather work for straight cash. People can sit there and say that they don't do that but THEY DO. I have seen people change the number of dependents every 6 months to keep from getting so much taken out of their checks from a previous job I worked at. I have seen others not file their taxes. The problem lies within us as Americans. We do not do things as we are suppose do, why would we expect anything less from others coming into this country.

Almost all pay taxes, you don't get social security when you get old by working under the table. Illegals could learn a thing or two about paying taxes from hard working Americans.

Very few Americans work under the table. We get social security by paying taxes so if you work under the table, you're pretty much screwed when you get old. Besides that, if you get caught not paying taxes, you deal with lots of penalties. Quite simply, we're not blamed because we're not the reason for lost revenue.

Very few don't pay taxes. If you work a legitimate job like most Americans do, paying taxes is nearly impossible. They are not blamed for lost revenue because they are not the cause. Simple, isn't it. Why is this in the immigration section anyway?

This subject really gets me going especially during tax time. Some people just don't think about the future, they expect the government to support them when they can no longer work, it isn't fair to the working people, those who pay through the nose and prepare for their future. I suppose we will always have tax cheaters.

Are you implying tax evasion? Those caught evading taxes are generally subject to criminal charges and substantial penalties.
As for the tips that the waiters get, its what you call gratuity-meaning a gift given in return for service.

Many, but they will say they that they can do it because they are citizens and laws don't apply to them, only for illegals
