Poll: Is your job hazardous to your health?
(Because I can tell you...the "paycheck" is beneficial to my health, but certainly not "the job," and do you suspect what I've always suspected, that...these 40 hour work weeks are killing us all? I mean...isn't 8 hours a day almost "inhuman?" Seems like it to me, right?!?)

Can I get a collective "Amen," please?

Very hazardous and I hope to never go back to "The Grind", killing myself with a 40-50 hour work week taking up 70 hours of my time each week.
That is very much inhuman. I'm gonna say that I don't think spending 70 hours devoted to work a week. (commute, showering, unwinding, etc) is what we're supposed to be doing with our lives. More important things to ponder than a day at the office.
Fortunately I get to do a job I love for a couple hours a day and make a ton of money. To call it a job is laughable because going to work to me is "play time". I'm one of the lucky few. Though luck has very little to do with it as I had a strong desire to get out of "the system" and did everything in my power to accomplish it.
Yay for me, I rock. Amen Brotha.

I own my own costume business, I do not even remember vacations or 40 hour weeks I am at 80 + hours a week and many overnights with large contracts that we are hit with at certain times of the year. Halloween I can top 100 + hours a week. I also am a tad bit accident prone I have fallen through a display cabinet, been hit in the head with a 10 lb milk crate, and droped scissors on my foot, but I must admit I love my job and can not see me doing anything else

Lol? Try doing my Dads Job.
He keeps getting more and more work put on his desk.
Usual hours a day? 12. Sometimes 14.
And thats with just 1 Hour lunch break, and even then, he has to take a paycheck to the companys bank, so he really only has 5mins lunch break for 1 Sandwich then he's gotta work like another 7-8hrs when hes only ate ONE Tuna Sandwich or something.
So he gets around 60hrs a week, and he's only allowed a total of 6 weeks off a year.

Amen...
But we all are not so fortunate to do what we would love. I have to do what pays the bills, puts food on the table and buys the shoes.
Today I am off work and it's a VERY lucky thing because the case I was due to take into court , has a crazed father who wants to kill me because of what I put in the report. The bailiff usually escorts the other worker back to her car. Hope my co worker makes it out ok.
Would LOVE to do something less hazardous to my health. And now I'm taking a WORSE position for what reason????
Exactly...MONEY!!!
So Amen to those who have careers and they love and earn tons of money and Amen to the rest of us too!!!

Retired after 40 hour weeks of working in Law Enforcement.
Plus 32-40 hour weeks of overtime, for past 42 years, to cover other shifts because we are the thin Blue line.
Under paid, understaffed and over worked.

AMEN
All jobs are hazardous, even mine....domestic godess!
(those sharp knives and bagels just don't get along when I have one in each hand)
They should cut people's hours back to 4 or 6, then more people could be employed.
And then there are some who just sit and answer the phone.....listening to biatchynessees....they should be working at least 12 hours.....jeesh, some of them think they are so overworked :( me..crying a buttonhole for him)

Not if proper short breaks to relax your eyes, neck, spine are taken in between after every 30 minutes or so. Avoid hot beverages like tea and coffee for it dehydrates but take water.

It's hazardous to my mind. It's really slow this time of the year and I get bored. Happily I have Y!A, and trivia chat rooms.
Amen.

Yes.... I just don't understand why they didn't classify *Mother* as a job. After all, I do administrative, sales, nursing, waitressing, janitorial and housekeeping. Not to mention taxi driver and all around handy person.
