No soreness?
So I've been working out rigourously for about a month now. I'm trying to lose a total of almost 43lbs. and have been lifting lighter weights at more reps. Specifically, 4 or 5 sets of 15 reps with about 20 seconds of rest in between. By the time I'm done with each workout my muscles are very tired and I can not do anymore. Yet, the next day, and the day after that, I don't have any soreness at all.
Now, since I'm trying to lose weight and tone up, should this be normal? Should I not be sore by doing this? Do I need to up the weight some and see what I can pump out with that, or should I increase my rest time and try to do more sets? Thanks for any help.
Braxton, The problem is that I DON'T have any soreness. I also don't do it every day. I usually alternate days for certain body parts.
I have been using barbells as much as possible. I have not been doing multiple excercises for each body part though as I usually max them out with my first exercise. I might try that.

firstly the lack of muscle soreness doesn't necessarily mean that you're not getting results.
there's no magical rep number that'll maximize your muscle gains, you have to experiment with different weights & reps. generally speaking, it is not recommended that you do more than 12 reps in each set if you're trying to stimulate muscle development. free weights are WAY better than machines in terms of muscle fiber stimulation and the number of muscles involved in the lift, so try using dumbbells/barbells whenever you can. try to workout each body part with more than one exercise per session, perform the exercises with a full range of motion, go slow and select a challenging weight so that by the 6 - 12 rep you've reached failure and can do no more reps.
edit: recovery is EXTREMELY important for muscle growth. always rest a body part at least 48-72 hours before working it again.

If you work out the same muscle groups every day the soreness should only last for about a week or so. Completely normal... If you were still sore I might worry about it.
