Supposedly it's worse that your everyday/average sin.
Honestly, I really don't see that it's either a sin nor an abomination. I don't see how any loving deity who claims that we're SUPPOSED to love each other, accept each other's differences and all get along like peaches and cream can then turn around and say that a man loving a man or a woman loving a woman is in any way a sin...let alone an abomination.
Now if we're talking about a heterosexual man who pretends to be gay, then that might be something there. A lie is bad, I can see that. But a Homosexual man doing what he is created to do...no...that just isn't logical nor right.
A gay man living a lie, pretending to be straight when he clearly wasn't created that way...yeah, THAT would be an abomination.
An abomination is an afront to God and what He created and How it was created. A gay man is created that way, to live against that would be wrong.
It's like a smart person refusing to use their brain, the brains God gave him, that would be an abomination. Unfortunately, it's all TOO widely accepted these days. (Smart people acting dumb that is)
What bothers me the most is that we know that God creates each one of us individually. That means none of us are identical to another, even identical twins have individual experiences. We seem to not have a problem understanding and accepting that left handed people aren't sinful or an abomination. We have learned to accept that there are many people with skin of different colors...that doesn't make them bad or an abomination. We have learned that some people are smart and some people are not as smart...we don't call simpletons an abomination.
So what's the deal here?
Why are those of us who are created to love others of the same gender in anyway thought to be sinful or an abomination? I just don't get it.

Actually, the lady who said that an abomination is WAAAAY worse than a sin is biblically wrong. The biblical word translated as abomination simply means something close to not kosher in the original language. Lots of things that we consider OK today are ABOMINATIONS in the Bible. And since God doesn't change, that must mean that he NEVER thought they were sins.

A sin is an action that is directly against the commandments of God.
An abomination is something that is disgusting, horrible, shameful, etc. The term "sin" is implied, but not stated.
However, before you make any conclusions from the above, keep reading in Leviticus. Chapter 18 declares that homosexual sex (not BEING homosexual, but acting on it) is an abomination. Chapter 21 says that the two should be put to death.

If you really want to know the answer go to Wikipedia encyclopedia and enter abomination. You may be quite surprised as to its origin and unique meanings. Do the same for sin. You should be able to understand the differences. No place like straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak.

i am not really super religious but i know that abomination is wayyyy worse than a sin. because everyone sins, and so sins get like, forgiven and get a passage into heaven. but an abomination is like, something that is so horrible that it can never get forgiven and go to hell. something totally against god and has no right in this world...or something like that. haha im not sure if i have the exact dictionary definitions but thats how i see them. sorry if it didnt help!

the difference between sin and abomination is that sin is just a mistake that you made, you ask for forgiveness and sin no more, an abomination is disgusting, despicable, and hateful in gods eyes, but you ask for forgiveness and sin no more, and if the word of god says being gay is wrong, than it is wrong,
who are we to remove the periods and put question marks on what god said, if he said it and put a period at the end of it, that`s it end of story, god made man in his image not to be other than, for a man to claim to be a woman or act like one is saying god made a mistake and he need to ask for forgiveness for he has sinned.

Like is defined in terms of more of a crush or affection/fondness. Love is the outworking of your truest feelings in your actions and behavior. If you really love someone, you strive to put their needs above your own. You might do that too if you like someone, but it's not a long term thing. Good luck! Hope this helped.

Ok sweety, let's put it this way
Abomination means more or less disgusting ( looked down upon) and sin basically means against the spoken words of God....
so when you hear ppl call their sin an abominaton, it just states that it's disgusting in the eyes of the lord
hope I helped

from what i've heard..abomination means like any behavior that perverts the lifestyle God intended human beings to live
and sin is like a deliberate disobedience to the known Will of God

Free your mind, abandon the indoctrination you suffered, and liberate yourself. You are neither an abomination nor sinful.
