DSL disconnects on every power failure.?

I'm using an ADSL modem Dlink-302T with a Dlink Router for distributing traffic at home. I'v several UPS to keep power up and running. We are short of power in our country and we keep facing power outages for load balancing etc.

We get several down times a day. All my UPSs keep things up and running well, including all the PCs, switches, router etc.

Now the problem is, whenever the power goes out (and we switch to UPS) or whenever it comes back up (we switch back from UPS to main power), my DSL modem is disconnected (desynced). Modem connects great and ad great speed (I have a 1Mbps link). I dont use any other phone or fax on the line and dont need a filter. Any idea?

Update:

I'm not using manual switching from power to UPS. These are automatic UPS devices that are successfully keeping all PCs and switches etc up and running. My modem, even, does not reboot on a power shifting from supply to battery, but that actually causes the loss of line sync. The modem sync/DSL lite goes off.

I have even tried re-booting the modem from the console (the web based control panel of the modem), but even then the line does not come back. Only way to bring this modem back is power-down the modem and back up again.

I have no issues with wireless or local connectivity.

Moreover, its not necessary that it disconnects always on a power to ups switch. It may or may not disconnect.

By the way, I have tried 2 modems , one from Dlink, and another from a chinese brand, but both give the same results.

Need more input guys.

Use good quality/Brand UPS or try changing your power supply of your modem and see if it works. One of my friend had same problem and he changed his UPS.

are you saying that when switching between power sources that you have to reconfigure the router every time? or the modem? or both?

These symptoms may be more pronounced when on battery power.

    Cause:

Power save polling mode is a feature that provides extended battery life for notebook computers. It requires coordination between the AP or router and the wireless adapter. Intel has discovered that some APs or routers may not implement the feature correctly or completely.

    Solution:

Contact the AP or router vendor for updated software or firmware that corrects the problem.

    Alternate Solution

An optional workaround is to manually put the wireless adapter into continually aware mode (CAM). This disables the PSP feature. The wireless adapter can be put into CAM using the following methods:

exactly the same thing happens with me on Beetel modem and Netgear router setup.. You have to live with that.

Whenever it is switching to UPS, (n i know u know it too), for a fraction of second it looses power and router restarts itslf.

i don think there is a solution other than a new UPS with better features

you are able to desire to establish dhcp on the router, and then be certain each and every device has its' tcp/ip advice set by way of dhcp. Your dsl can't be reducing out, or the different machines might have an analogous subject. If it quite is a instantaneous community, and you do not have encryption became on, it quite is conceivable somebody is employing your connection and inflicting those issues. on no account use instantaneous devoid of encryption.

If you are manualy switching between power and ups, it is probably the power spiking on the change-over.

if u are switching manually, thats the problem....

your ups should have a feature like avr automatic voltage regulator..to regulate the voltage abrupt..
