Assuming that you are white of course! Do you consider that statement to be racist? Are you personally offended by it?

Stereotyping any segment of the population, or person is wrong. Obama made a racist and inappropriate comment.
Yes, I'm offended. But mostly I'm sad that Obama, who has convinced so many people there was only "one" America, obvious believes there are many different Americans, and he has a stereotype for the "typical white person."

Paul, dude.....you have to stop stirring the pot. None of this is relevant to the situation. We've been in a war for five years that's going nowhere. At best it's settled down to a lower state of equilibrium. The 'economy' of wage-earning americans has begun a slow and steady retro movement as the macro 'economy' keeps its forward movement in favor of the trans-national corporations. The national debt, fed by borrowed money, much of it fed into the five years of war I mentioned has induced the rest of the world to begin a sneer at the once might American dollar. We still have an 'oil only' energy policy and a growing drumbeat of propaganda toward the acceptance of 'clean coal'....the absolute dirtiest substance on the face of our climate changing earth. Far too many of our fellow citizens still have no health insurance and our borders are still wide open. Most of our states are in serious financial deficit....which translates to a far lower investment in education and other social and physical infrastructure objectives. The list goes on. No....Obama isn't a 'racist' and to use a wild argument like that instead of dealing with the real problems is a waste of everyones time. I assume that you plan on voting for McCain in the coming election....why not tell us why he's a better choice based on his take on the problems we have and the problems we face. Do you believe that continuing the policies and politics of the Bush administration is in our favor? If so, tell us why instead of making an issue about something that doesn't really impact our national reality just to create more negative propaganda.

Yes!
Obama's belief in "typical white people" existing is offensive.
Obama's calling any one a "typical white person" is offensive.
For Obama to be so conceited and so disdainful of "typical white people" and to have so little respect for others to give him self permission to say his racist attitudes in a public speech is offensive as proof of rampant racism.
If any Caucasian used the phrase "typical black person" in any public speech especially a white person running for public office-----the typical black culture would still be quoting it decades from now.

No I would be flattered to be described as a typical member of the superior species. Its a bit like saying you are a typical genius, relatively speaking of course. Although I must say I don't think you should dislike someone because of the colour of their skin when there are so many other reasons to dislike them.

Yes, I am offended and here is the reason why... I was watching Oprah years ago when a white person on the show said to another black person that was screaming at her "I don't understand you people. " The white women was referring to black people and their reasoning behind the LA riots. Oprah and the man accused the women of being racist by using the term "you people". Double standard. Oprah the Obama backer.

I am my own person. So yes, if you are comparing me to the evil as well as others.that I don't approve of. As, I chose not to rob kill or steal, to me that is offensive. And if Hillary is smart she, better never call Obama a typical "Black man" it would really be her end. forever, Only certain people can do that.If is grandmother sued him for calling her Typical white she would never win.in a court of law..betcha.

Damned Right I'd be offended. I find the term "White" not only racist but a deliberate act of Cultural Genocide.
I do believe I'd be laughing my *** off if he called me a "typical" anything.

No. They're just words, right? Nobody is a "typical" anything, when you think about it. We all have different qualities and characteristics that define who we are. To think that all white people act, dress, talk, walk, eat, and think the same way is ridiculous.
Now when it comes to the issue on race in particular, I have the attitude of the "typical white person." I think that's what Barack Obama was referring to.

I would say "No, Mr. Obama, I'm a typical German/Irish white person with American citizenship! lol!
Actually, I hope I'm a bit above "typical"...and while Mrs Clinton saying that about Obama certainly is a demeaning remark, it's not necessarily racist.
