Strange mobile phone message.?

My partner has had a a strange text message on his mobile phone. It says the following, and is worded exactly like this, so the poor grammar, etc is not mine.

"FreeMsg: User you must respond only to '81456' with the text 'Live' failure to do so, your service will be suspended.'

My partner rang 3 and was told to ignore it and not worry about it. Has anyone else received this message, or can anyone shed any light on where it's from? We know it's a scam.

    Hi

I've also received 2 of these messages within the last hour, so just now I phoned up three customer services.

They said that it was a spam message sent to their customers by a company called various with 3 as the sender. You should ignore the message and not reply to it.

    Hope this helps you too

Well 2 days on im not too bothered about the texts anymore... what I'm worried about is how this person was able to get hold of the whole database of 3 customer information.

I received exactly the sames 2 messages a few hours ago , I realised it was a phishing scam straight away although I called three to let them know of the scam, they were aware of it and confirmed so by telling me the number which is suggested to reply to, 81456. So dont worry about it nor should you reply to it, I found this article about the scam.

URGENT !!! if someone suggests you send the word STOP do not. >>> Do Not reply to this at all. You can call the telephone preference service on 0845 0700707 and the silent call service on 0870 4443969 it is free to register and will stop 99% or more of this. You can call from a landline which is cheaper. Also give Ofcom a call on Tuesday on 0845 4563000 and report this and they will give you a reference no. and investigate. You can register online with the first two i have mentioned.

    I work for TMobile USA

and that happens a lot here. It sort of a scam. What it is a pay-for-content company that will bill you, generally monthly for content you probably dont want.

If anyone has made the mistake of already getting into one of these things, text STOP (in caps) to the same number you started with, or in reply to your latest content message, and it will opt you out.

    Hope that helps!

Report it to www.phonepayplus.org.uk, if enough people make the same complaint they will hopefully put a stop to the scam
