Excellent question.
For me, and those believers I know, I would say "no". We are given the world and "all that is in it" to have dominion over it. This does not mean use and misuse. It means to care for it.
That being said, I will admit that I am guilty of not always being careful with this great gift. In over consumption and in over disposal.
blessings :)

Not every denomination. Last week my priest was telling us we had to do more to recycle and be good stewards of the earth. My church has gone to those energy saving bulbs every where we could. We're also going to install energy saving windows. Plus, we recycle. I've recycled since 1990. My mom recycled as much as she could after the first Earth Day. However, I have heard some of the religious right leaders make comments along the lines of God gave us the earth to do with as we please.

My pastor (Baptist) says not to worry about baloney like global warming.
Which is hotter, a globally warmed world or hell?
And besides, if a few people die because of global warming, God will see to it that only wicked non-believers are taken out anyway.
So it's all good. It's all God's work.

the world is not disposable! Once the plan of salvation is finished, the earth will become the celestial kingdom!

Yes, you wouldn't believe how many fundies I have met that have told me they don't care about saving the Earth because God is going to destroy it and make a new one.

The reason we treat earth like a toilet isn't religion, it's called fat-gross-disgusting-lazy-pig-humans.
