Is it illegal to walk along side the road if there is no sidewalk?
I live outside of Raleigh, NC and walking around here is a real pain. Maybe that's part of the reason why there's so many fat people.
Anyway, I'm just wandering if I'm in the right here and if it's okay to walk outside?

P.S. The reason I say maybe.is if it is a Toll road...or a Federal Highway ..it is not only illegal for you to walk..you can't ride a horse or a moped or a bicycle...as it is for your safety...the reason I know this is my car broke down on the Kansas Turnpike and I started to walk to the nearest service station & was picked up by a State Trooper..I asked him ..what am I suppose to stay with my car and wait for help..he said "Exactly"..so he did not have to work a pedestrian VS car accident (ME).

It is generally legal to walk along the side of a road, sidewalk or not. It is, however, NOT legal to walk along the side of a highway. Road yes, highway no.
