Actualy years ago they didn't all have locks on the doors. I remember it being an item in the news because for one day they were going to close all the stores in the state. They had to go and install locks on the doors of a fair number of the stores.

I think locks are required now for reasons stated above. Also if there is a crime they need to lock up the store so no one comes in before investigators can examine the scene.

Just because they are open all the time as a general rule, doesn't mean that there won't be times when they aren't. The 7-11 next door to me is closed 2x per week for nightly maintenance from 1am-3am. Also, if the worker is alone and has to go to the bathroom, or if they were robbed, they would close the store off to maintain evidence until they got everything they needed. Stuff like that.

In case of a blackout or a riot maybe. But- My g/f worked at a 7-11 in Vegas. Several times the next person didnt show up for thier shift so she said," screw this" locked the doors and went home!

in the event that there is a unanimous employee uprising over the issue of substandard wages, the store can be locked to preserve the inventory until the board can come up with a brilliant solution at the consummation of a catered lunch

Because what if Michael Jackson is in town and your kid is in that 7-11? You just gonna leave the door unsecured?

Probably to keep it locked during an emergency.

Nothing a brick through a glass window can't fix.

it's how the doors were manufactured

cheaper than ordering special non locking doors
