If you were stuck on a desert island, what ten books would you have with you?
Here are mine:
1. The Bible
2. The Works of William Shakespeare
3. David Copperfield by Charles Dickens
4. The I Ching
5. The Tao te Ching
6. Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkein
7. The Stories of Anton Chekhov
8. The haiku of Basho
9. War and Peace by Leo Tolstoi
10. The Tale of Genji by Lady Murasaki
Remember you may be stuck on the island for 20 years. There are no trees on the island that will float. And these are books you will want to read over and over again. Maybe I'd add "Robinson Crusoe" as an 11th.
Let's face it, I'd better take a pair of glasses too.
