What are some ways you can tell if a performer on an instrument is great or just good or even so-so? I don't have any people in mind. I know who I like but have always wondered what makes a Horowitz a Horowitz and Pablo Casals a Casals, a Callas a Callas and a Bernstein a Bernstein.

Would love to know if you've seen any of these people in concert and what your experience was.

Paul Scofield just died. What a wonderful actor. I saw his movie versions of "King Lear" and "A Man for All Seasons" Along with Alec Guinness and Michael Caine they are the best.

I am a writer and I am thinking about doing a blog. Would like to know your experience. Good, bad or otherwise? How long you've blogged? How often should I blog? A good free website to create a blog from? How much archiving is available? Any suggestions on making a blog successful? (In other words, for the visitor.) Do I need to let others comment or can I just put up stuff for people to read? Any other things you think might be helpful.

This is one of my favorite books of all time. Just wanted to know if others loved it as much as I did.

What is a favorite song. I love Tattoo'd Lady.

If the ten commandments say: "Thou shalt not kill" and Jesus says: "Love your neighbor," how can Christians justify going to war in Iraq and killing thousands of innocent civilians? If the Bible says: "Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord" and the ten commandments say: "Thou shalt not kill", how can Christians justify capital punishment, especially if you believe that each person is made in the image of God?

The other night I dreamed that Mike Huckabee was President of the United States, Hillary Clinto was his Vice President. They were meeting with the Cabinet and there was a big bowl of chips and dip in the middle of the table. It had all been eaten--by Bill Clinton standing in a corner.

The song sounds a lot like "As Tears Go By" sung by Marianne Faithfull and the Rolling Stones, at least part of it does. It was written by Mick Jagger, Andrew Loog Oldham and Keith Richards, yet the band does not give them credit. Think that's called copyright infringement.

I would love to see a series of novels with the house-elves as the main characters.
