I taught math from 1st grade through algebra in college and I have found that rote learning the 1 through 12 multiplication tables is the best way of doing it.
Singing will take her too long to get the answers as she will go through the songs. As one person stated, " Do it the old fashioned way."
I know with all that I know it is best for students' multiplication tables to have them as an intrinsic and auto-mental, rote learned application.

You and her mother or some other older person of importance in her life or perhaps several of you should do it the old fashioned way. By live interaction with her. You can get her to study with flash cards and then make a game out of it and ask her different multiplication questions very quickly at a meal time or after comming home from work or from shopping. For example you coud ask her quickly tell me what is 4x9= or perhaps 7x8= (which was a tough one for me to remember when I was little but my father constantly asked me 7 8's = or 8 7's = and would say quick quick and I would answer as quick as I could.
It became a game for me and I started to get more confidence in being able to memorize and instantly recalling the answer to any multipication question from the times table of 2 through 12 times tables.
Also every day I would practice my times tables out loud with my parents and in time I learned them all by rote memorization and I was able to instantly recall the answers without having to use my fingers.
Also another benefit of your granddaughter having human interaction with you and perhaprs her parents will be that years later she will remember all three of you with fond memories of her learning her multiplication tables.
There is too much emphasis on the computers nowadays for teaching methods that were successful for countless years before a computer was invented and it will be good for your granddaughter to have some human interaction while she is learning her basic math skills of multiplication and division
I remember to this day all the times that my parents made a game out of learning my multiplication tables and to this day I still remember them............ They are wonderful fond memories of a simpler time gone by which was part of my childhood.
This is just another perspective and answer that may help your granddaughter without haivng to use the computer for that learning experience.

a great idea is to draw a graph with squares from side to side multiplication like on the left side write down the column 1 2 3 etc.. and on top to right write numbers 1 2 3 etc and squares write the answer this helped me so much when i was little

I am glad u r trying to teach her the tables. once u have mugged those bad boys up, math becomes a breeze. try songs to get her interested. but rote learning is the only solution.

go to amazon.com and look under books... they have tons of books on multiplication and how to teach it. You should just go to a drug store, or dollar store and purchase a multiplication work book, I always see them there.
