Sound problem. Techies Please Help!?
I have a set of speakers that run on the 3.5mm jack plug and a set of USB headphones neither of which I can get running since I've setup windows Vista again following a virus. Sound is OK from the built in laptop speakers (although the sound quality isn't very good - but then that's just the laptop!)
I have a Fujiitsu Siemens Amilo Li1705 running Windows Vista. Please Help!

Wow...that's actually a nice little laptop.
Contrary to the last answer's wording (I could be confused), a computer virus cannot corrupt or induce surges on physical hardware like a sound chipset. If multiple ports are working or not, we could safely say that the chipset is still in good condition.
I would suggest attacking the Fujitsu-Siemens Support site. I just did a support search on your model and found a nice list of all of your model's updated Vists drivers. I would suggest downloading and updating at least your sound drivers for now (eventually you should update them all) - They're usually the latest and greatest in the event that your original image DVD is a little outdated.
As well, make sure you have your system Windows Updated accordingly with all your system drivers such as DirectX which can have a great effect on sound quality as well.
Hope this helps...

You probably need to go into sound settings and make sure you set it up for pc speakers and not the laptop speakers. If this fails then you might need to buy another sound card for it mate.

Do you still have the CD for your laptop's device drivers?
You may need to install the Audio drivers from that CD. If not, search the web for the audio driver for your specific laptop model.
You can download the Audio drivers here:

I would suggest you to go to Fujitsu support website and refresh/download new copy of sound card drivers and install.
