Simply duct tape a funnel to your mouth, and pour.

The straw sounds good for practical reasons and might I suggest "Iced" for safety reasons. The I.V. while it might sound appealing would need specialized assistance that would make it cost even more than Starbucks.
Oops... Lucy has a good point, ok, iced but from a cup. You''ll have to deal with the dribble I'm afraid

Oh dear, first I'd wait 'til the numbness died down. Lay down and let it come back some, then pour yourself a cup and first try drinking with a straw. And the iced thing isn't a bad idea. Iced coffee + milk + a lil' sugar/vanilla = mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!

Whatever you do, DON'T use a straw - can dislodge the clot and cause dry socket - extremely painful!
You're going to have to go without the caffeine today unless you get it through Coke or chocolate. Go ahead, you deserve some candy after all you've been through :)

Ouch! When I have had a numb face after seeing the dentist, I use a straw to sip my coffee!

Actually, though it sounds like a punchline, very carefully is the right answer. Small sips, no straw. The others are right about the bloodclot thing.

I would also sugggest using a straw.I would also think that drinking fluids that are not too hot or cold at first.Too hot can be risky with a straw.Check with your dentist first in case you should restrict what fluids you take and how you take them.Take care.
Source(s): EDIT I just read where a poster said you could dislodge a clot if you use a straw. That sounds like that is good advice. If you use a straw do not use it in the conventional manner.Put the straw in the liquid and put your thumb over the top of the straw. It will cause some of the liquid to go in the straw and then drop it into your mouth. You could also use a medicine dropper. - Anonymous1 decade ago
Best advise is not to but I wish I had not looked at your question as my tooth has began to ache.....ooowwww?? Maybe drink through a straw as I know its nasty not being able to have what you need!
