    They come from mixing 2 other primary colors.

    Purple=blue&red

    Orange=red&yellow

    Roxy is right, but I really like Pinky's answer. There actually are fish called the orange spike fish, the purple tang fish, and the silver dollar fish. So go ahead and give the 10 to Roxy, but Pinky gets a thumbs up from me.

    They are both secondary colours.

    A secondary colour is made by mixing two primary colours, as has been stated already.

    However, technically they are not complementary colours to each other.

    In colour mixing, orange is the complementary (or opposite) of blue, not purple.

    The complementary of purple (violet) is yellow or yellow/gold.

    They both are combinations of red with other colors. Blue for purple, yellow for orange.

    Flowers! Purple iris blooms are lovely in the spring. The bright orange zinnias blossom in the heat of summer.

    They are complementary colors on the color wheel. That is, they are directly across from each other on the wheel ... using two primary colors (red/yellow for orange -- red/blue for purple); therefore, they are secondary colors.

    It's probably wrong.....but if you mix purple and orange together, would that come out the color brown?

    Nothing rhymes with the words purple and orange.

    Makes a nice quilt especially if you add believe it or not yellow and just the right shade of green.
