to get rid of mice, is it better to get a cat or a rat terrier dog?
So if I keep getting mice, is it better to get a cat or a rat terrier dog? Also, would getting a mix be okay for having as a pet and a possible mice killer or needs to be a pure breed?

Get a cat. They are natural hunters of mice. The terrier will just scare them off temporarily with it's barking but probably won't be quick or stealthy enough to catch a mouse and kill it.

A cat because I live in the city and we have 2 cats 1 is 3 years old and the other is 1 year and a half. We didnt train them to hunt but the 3 yr old always brings mice, birds, rats etc home. And the 1 year old brings bugs lol he is still working on it lol.

Cats and dogs can both pick up diseases from hunting rodents and other vermin. Often, they can bring these diseases into your house and you can become infected. A better idea for getting rid of your mice would be an electronic pest control device which emits a noise small animals can't stand. Check out this website for more information. It might be a little bit expensive up front, but the cost of a pet is wayy more over the years.

I would think cat. Cats catch mice on instinct, thats what they eat in the wild. Dogs require more training, and are generally pack hunters. Not all cats will hunt mice, so don't bother if thats the only reason if you want a pet.

Rat terriers work best in the context of a farm, ridding rats and other vermin from the barn.
Cats are great. They kill mice, squirrels, chipmunks, small snakes, and various other prey. Get a cat.

A good friend of mine has a jack russell. It really close to the rat terrier. They are excellent ratters. They can catch and kill them pretty quick. My friend has cats too, and the terriers get more rats than the cats do.

For sure a cat! Our cat doesn't let anything roam around lol. The sad part is that she doesn't have claws and still manages to catch a mouse if it gets in!
